All I can say is you're really going to the end on this burb. I'm sure there are gonna be some great learning points in all this, you're a better man then I as I would have junk it with as much rust as it has.
You've made some very nice gains and I have to respect that. Good luck to you on this project!
When I say that I say it from experience, I used to live in the middle east where the supply was minimal, and labor was cheap, I have revived similar trucks and cars, even revived cars that were crushed beyond recognition.
Then I came here and saw how many clean rust free cars are bring crushed every day, so I figured I might as well save the clean ones and not worry about the rusted ones.
I do commend you on your efforts though, you are doing what we were doing there, building patch pieces from scratch, not just buying all the patch pieces and welding them on.
ok all the pics i have are up so what you see is the current state of my burb. I finished all the heavy body work about 2 months ago and i planned on it being all done and painted by now but alot of things havent been going my way. I lost my job about 6 weeks ago so i havent been getting an income for a while but im 19 and still living at home so its not the end of the world. So i havent really done much to it for a while cause ive had no money and ive just been really busy with school. Also 2 weeks ago the transmission took a dump so big blue has been out of comission. I plan on pulling the trans some time this week and one of my pops friends is a transmission specialist and hes goign to help me rebuild it. after i get it back on its feet then i gotta do alot of body filling and sanding and getting doors linned up and somehow getting my tail gate lined up. Ive done so much radical reconstruction to it than i dont think the tail gate will ever line up prefect but hopefully i can convice it to get close enough to not aggravate me. then after all of that is done i will wait till spring to spray it then i can start thinking about lifts and tires and axles and all the fun stuff but i also gotta find a new job first. and that is my current situation
Did you eliminate the spare tire well and inner rear lower quarter areas to simplify things, or so you won't need to worry about future rust in those problematic areas? Also, did you install a body lift, or use pucks in the rear as mounts?
I eliminated the spare tire and the inner quarters to make things wayyyy more simple. Now my suburban is one of a kind. It also has all new poly body bushings and a 3 inch body lift which i just installed to give me some clearance between the body and frame which made working on it much easier. The body lift is coming off soon tho cause it looks quite wierd so if any one wants it for cheap pm me.
