k5blazerguy submitted a new Build:

My best friends girl, then mine, then lost her, then got her back!!!

First off 79 K5 Cheyenne. A pretty good friend in high school and I had blazers, mine was an 85, this was his. Acquired about 2002....right after high school he had, well say, some hard times and sold it to me. Had it for a while Ended up having to sell it in 2004 (new baby, needed down payment for reliable truck)...local guy bought it, did some things here and there and always made me sad to see it driving around town. Tried to buy it back and he wanted double what I sold it to him for.
Well I went through divorce cpl
Years later and was forced to sell my 85 to pay bills.......So fast forward to 2016 saw it for sale on lot off the highway,....he was moving to Florida and couldn’t take it with him. Score!!! Gave me a good deal and I got her back!!
I’ll never let her go again!!!

Cool, looking at the top, what are the x & y dimensions of the tank, excluding the flanges.

I found the website below with fuel tank info. From the tank dimensions I calculated the capacity in gallons. Then did the same with the tank dimensions you measured.
I didn't allow for the radius corners, so that will decrease the volume slightly. I'm guessing you've got the 31 gallon tank.

http://www.gastanks.com/Blazer-Full-Size/products/276/
Capacity: 31 gallons
Dimensions: 28-3/4" x 28-1/8" x 12-3/4
Calculate capacity: 44.6 gallons

Capacity: 25 gallons
Dimensions: 28-3/4" x 28-1/8" x 10-3/4"
Calculate capacity: 37.6 gallons

Measured tank
26.5 x 26. 5 x 11.25
Calculate capacity: 34 gallons

My measurements may not have been exact. Had a couple crown and cokes, and went back to the garage to grab some stuff and measured at night.
I should have paid attention more in math class. Makes sense now. Hahaha. Thanks!!!

If you look back at what I said.
You have the 31 gallon tank.
I can tell you by looking at it no measurements needed

No doubt, ya know yer stuff. What did you see in the OP's pics that you knew it was 31 gallons? Just curious not doubting your astute observation.

I have been working on these Chevy trucks for more than 30 years, parted more than 30 and there's 2 sizes for the k5, once you see the 25 gallon and this one one, visually I can not mistake them.
I know I am very good with visual measurements but it is easy with these 2.
Plus the 25 gallon is flat on the bottom, the 31 gallon has a taper in the back :pimp:

Making slow progress on it. But progress at least! Hard being broke and having kids in sports. Haha!
In the last couple weeks Got a lot of rear end, frame, and underside cleaned up to get it all ready for some sort of coating. Feel like I should start smoking crack So I can be up all night wire wheeling. Need to pop the dent out of the tank too. Probably need to find a skid plate.
Parts finally came in from rock auto, ruff stuff, and ORD. Took the night off of wrestling practice and came to the garage with my son. Started on the disk brake swap, now I can’t sleep cuz I’m too excited. Lol. Love making progress. Even if it’s a little.
