My build-DOWN thread...

I see you are redoing the wiring. I am trying to find a "clean" way to incorporate the gauge cluster of aftermarket gauges. Most people that have done the LS swap with a 4 wire hookup just drill a hole through the firewall. I'd like to use the factory fuse block/passthrough. What did you do?

Thanks

Because mine is a 90 it has the big hole in the firewall already where the factory computer wiring passed through so I just used that. If I didn't have that, I feel like I would go ahead and drill a new 2" or so hole down over by the factory fuse block pass through and use one of the split grommets from sealsit.

There are companies that offer firewall bulkheads. Lots of options.

Wiring prettyed up some.

Got it fired up this morning! Just for a few seconds. But now I can wrap it all up in confidence! Trying to get photo bucket to upload my video.

So here is what the future holds for me.

Stuff to buy;

stereo and speakers $100
window regulators $90
pas.window motor $22
wire loom $15
water pump $80
tags $80
rotors $90
pads $33
TOTAL: $510

In adition to that stuff, i also have some "free" stuff to do. I need to fix a broken manifold bolt in the driver side head, replace the driver side axle shaft with one that has the snap ring groove. And replace the trans mount. So i dont think i will hit the 4th of july mark unless the wife lets me exersize the credit card and lets me have free time up the wazoo!

this is important stuff, explain that to her. :thumb:

I think im just going to keep on plugging away, and if its done by the 4th, then why not take it. And if its not, then i just take the '12.

Just going to try out one of the cardone units. THey are brand new pumps for $49.79+shipping on rock auto.

So I was having trouble getting my xj steering shaft apart. I decided it was time to get serious! Click for vid.

Nothing terribly exciting to report but I did finally put in my new oxygen sensors and let it run for about 15 min. Everything looks/sounds perfect! Really wish I would have done it this way from the beginning.... Also my steering box does seem to be fked up. Steers super sharp one way, and about a quarter of the way the other way.... So I'm going to go get a good used one tomorrow and slap it on. Tomorrow I plan to mount the computer, the new box, and finish looming the wires. Should be totally drivable again by the end of the day! Then just got to move on to the interior and front end.
