My craigslist 88 v30 Crew dually find.....thoughts? Ideas?

bolt on yes same but if drw with fender flares thay are diffrent under there.

i would srw it and swap a box on it my self.

flat bed is nice but my truck is going back to box and flat bed will be cut up to make shorter for play toy rig only. and from there i will go trailer.

Id just keep it dually. Seems like alot of work just to not have a dual rear axle that would allow you to tow more if you ever did decide to tow more than small stuff. Why not use it to tow the possum?

You dont have to lift much to fit 37's on this truck. Mine is only lifted about 4"lift in front and I only have a 3" block in the back. Move the front axle forward with a zero rate and the tires won't rub the fenders when you turn. I personally never wanted a dually either, but after the truck was lifted and the 37's were on, the truck had a really aggressive look and it really grew on me.

Here's a pretty good shot of my truck next to fabjunkie's. Drw vs srw with 37's and identical lift on both.

My opinion is leave it a dually and leave it stock ride height. To me lifted duallies scream penis compensation. Granted I have little experience, but having the longest, widest and heaviest truck out of a makers lineup seems like it would be useless for off-roading.

Like i said before. Not going to be used for offroading. Its a work/play truck....a weekend worrior if you will.

37"s would be the absolute most tire this thing would see but realistically i think a 35 is more along the lines of what I wanted.

as for "compensation" for anything.....your talking to a guy with an SAS 2500hd on 40's...im pretty sure if i was gonna be compensating for anything its already done. :waytogo:

Im just not a fan of having a 4wd truck that can get high centered crossing a mild ditch or small wash out because its belly/frame is only 14" off the ground and the diferentials are anchors.

edit: its not like i went out looking for a dually crew cab. I found this thing for a damn good price, had it been a 1/2 ton I still would have bought it. ITs just a plus to be getting all the beefy drive train so i wouldnt have to build up to it and go parts searching, in this case, I have all the heavy running gear Ill need.....it just so happen to come with alotta bed.

Mine isn't a dually, but it I still off roaded it.

Sell it & buy what you want or need. It a shame to cut up or seperate a solid CC. They are not making anymore of them. If it where a rust bucket or a basket case I would say go for it.

I too like the paint, I wouldn't have chose it, but I wouldn't paint over it if it were still in good shape.

Nice price and I too like the look of it. You could go 33 or 35 with
Minimal lift if you're Gona stay on road with it. I never really liked the dualies but crew cabs are awesome. Can't believe you got it for 1600 in that shape. Keep the paint and clean it up. Lol I like it

What happened with this? If you still want to go SRW we may be able to work something out. I want to go DRW and got a straight bed. What part of Texas are you in?

Funny you asked.
Messed with the Truck a little more today. I pulled the bed off and removed the bent rear bumper and the tow hitch...at one point someone had a massive amount of tongue weight on this truck. See pics

Both sides of the frame looked like this.
Not cool but hasn't seemed to hurt anything else on the rig.
With the bed off I got a better look at something I had noticed before. I'm pretty sure I know what this is even though I had never actually seen a factory one.
Trivia time. What is this lever contraption on the rear axle?

Since the truck was previously a diesel the previous owner left the passenger side tank unhooked and the switch inside disconnected. Dropped the tank and tended it all out, tested the switch and pump and surprisingly enough, everything worked perfectly. A few pieces of hose for vents and nozzle and had it all buttoned up.
Lastly, when I got the truck it had a massive tach sitting in the floor board. Brand new....so I wired it up as well.

Ive been debating pretty hard about weither or not I want to keep it dually still or go SRW.
Im not sure I can bring myself to hack a truck that's in such good shape and fast becoming a classic in its own way.

For whoever asked.
Im close to victoria, down below houston about 100 miles.

Ugh, after looking at those frame pictures, I hate you. Here in Wisconsin, trucks have more rust than that inside their oil pans...

This is the first one I had seen. So I'm assuming it was a dually/tow package thing.

My plans were to just remove it and bypass once I added some inches to this thing and got some shiny new brake lines. For now though, seems to work fine so I'm letting it go.

Oh, on the frame. Truck was originally from Nevada...so that explains it.
We've been joking that the truck looks like something from the Las Vegas world finals rodeo and I'll be damned if I didn't find a las Vegas match book under the rear seat. Haha
