Re: My cyberfire built beadlocks UPDATED NEW PICS!!!!!!!!!

Very cool!!
I have a question though.. I just got the may petersons with the beadlock write up in it, in fact I was lookin at it a few minutes before I logged on.
I was sittin on the thinkin chair so long trying to figure out how they worked that my damn legs fell asleep.
I figured I would log on and ask a dumb ? and low and behold a post on do it yerself beadlocks (gotta love CK5)
I think I have it now but to clarify.. once the inner ring is welded on the tire bead sits on the inner ring and the outer clamps it all together?
Instead of putting both beads inside the wheel only one gets inside and the other sits on the inner ring?
Am I understanding the concept correctly?
I suppose if I seen one it would be as clear as day.

Re: My cyberfire built beadlocks UPDATED NEW PICS!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, the 2 rings clamp the tire bead tight in there... someone had a really good pic of what it looked like for the bead to go in but I'm not sure where it is... /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Re: My cyberfire built beadlocks UPDATED 5/17!!!!!!!!!

ok this might be a dumb question but i always wandered what you do with the back bead? does it just sit in it's origonal spot or do you weld the same stuff on the back to hold that one on? /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
but i must say those all look sweet /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

Re: My cyberfire built beadlocks UPDATED 5/17!!!!!!!!!

You have me stumped on that question... never really thought about it... but I think with the outer bead squished between the 2 rings it would be okay because the inner (closest to the drivetrain) would stay on there because to come off, it also has to come out of the beadlocks. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Re: My cyberfire built beadlocks UPDATED 5/17!!!!!!!!!

if the inner bead isn't locked on the rim isn't it still possable to bust it off with a side impact?
although it might be a lot harder to bust off because the weight transfer would be on the opposite side /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

Re: My cyberfire built beadlocks UPDATED 5/17!!!!!!!!!

You're right, with a beadlock on only the outside bead it is still possible to lose the inside bead. It is much less likely to lose the inner bead -- but still possible. Some people put beadlocks on both the inside and the outside but it can be problematic with clearance issues.

Both rings are 1/4".

Re: My cyberfire built beadlocks UPDATED 5/17!!!!!!!!!

Do those weld inside the rim, or on the surface like Rock Stomper's? I don't like how Rock Stomper's sit on the rim bead. To me, it seems weaker and harder to weld.

Re: My cyberfire built beadlocks UPDATED 5/17!!!!!!!!!

they are designed to sit on the edge. They can be made either way. Your choice.
