My FAST EFI / fuel injection mod thread

Its the Fragola 2000 series hose ends, for some reason they aren't on their website, but they are in the catalog if you download the catalog. But it requires all different hose that is also expensive, I don't think it's worth the cost since you already have the pushlock, once you get it down you'll be done with it soon enough.

I would call Fragola, they are the ones who supply the hose and fittings for the FAST kit.

FINALLY got some fittings on. Check this out....

I boil the water
stick hose in for a minute or two
put engine oil on fitting barb
take hose out and attempt putting on fitting
can't finish
put hose AND fitting together into boiling water
take out and put hose in vise
beat fitting with rubber mallet
drink beer
cut some frayed black stuff off hose
heat shrink the end of the hose with about 3" of tubing

The 90* fittings are a PITA. I can't whack them like the straights. Just a lot of back and forth to the water. I set up my propane stove and had water boiling the whole time.

I've done 3 fittings so far. I don't have my gas tank in yet, but now I can. Then measure for the other hoses. Not sure if I'll have enough hose to finish but I already know I'm missing one straight fitting. I don't know where it went or if I ever had it.

Nice method, also with the amount of hose I could have made a return line with the extra I had. There's no way you could be running out of hose

It's on a blazer though. The tank is all the way in the back. And yes, I'm running the supplied hose for a return. That's where I'll get myself in trouble.

Hmmm, got me thinking now. Can I run regular fuel line (it says "not for fuel injection") on the return side with hose clamps etc?

Yes you can, and I did. The return line is just a pressure dump off the regulator so it doesn't actually see any pressure. I used a rubber line off my regulator to the factory 3/8" fuel line, then at the tank I used a 3/8" to 5/16" hose barb adapter to neck it down to the return fitting on the tank sending unit.

Do you have enough fittings? I was cleaning some stuff in the garage this weekend and I found one extra straight fitting, if you need it I can drop it in the mail. I know I am not buying any more of that pushlock!

Found out today my HAT wont fit on top of the TB. I have the big filter style one and it actually hangs down lower than the gasket area. This hits the fuel rails. :( At least I have a plan B. I'm using an Airaid intake off a '92 Blazer that a coworker gave me. It's no longer cold air, which sucks, but it comes with a nice HAT. I just need to do something with my air pump hose.

Also, going to a serpentine setup seems to have caused interferance between the cold air tube and the passenger mounted AC compressor. Not sure though, didn't try any harder once the HAT didn't fit.

Ya I ran into that too. Gotta have a flat base for the air cleaner. :waytogo:

Got a link? Not sure what I should get. I would much rather run the stocker if possible.

They do make spacers to go under them too you know.

I already have a 1" spacer under the TB. The HAT is missing by about 1". Any kind of spacer would probably be fine with HAT to hood clearance. Never seen one though. :dunno:

The link has a couple in it,

If I did it again, I would not use the supplied hose. I have one leak do to hose failure. Now all I can think about is the other hose. I will be replacing the bad hose with an industrial hose made by a local shop. Hopefully I don't have to replace the other.

The bad hose sprouted a leak right at the end of the barb fitting, about 3/4" from the end. This was not my doing. I'm pretty sure it actually failed. Either way, I'm not making another one.

Other than that, I'm just waiting to finish making my water neck. Add coolant and fire it up. :)

Maybe you wrestled it too much and cracked the rubber? :dunno:

The fuel line failure I had wasn't the pushloc hose and its was because I confused the vent and return nipples on the sending unit :doah:

Yeah, there is nothing wrong with the supplied hose(albeit they are a little hard to install), you probably damaged it.

I used the stock air cleaner on mine. Actually had to go to a junk yard and get another one, as I had cut the inner circle out of my original for the "ultimate TBI mods".

Finally got mine running right and enjoying it now.

Good Luck
