My K5 emergency rain kit...

ahaha i just got me a sig from this thread.

i nearly spit out my beer you sob :p:

but ya i used to just let it rain inside the suburban where the roof should be but rust prevaled

Do any of you other fulltop guys have an emergency rain plan or am I just the only one with an interior worth going through the trouble of worrying about rain damage? :p:

It will dry out, I ain't worried.:D

Craig,

That's exactly how mine looked with a blue tarp for a while. I never drove it like that because I didn't trust the bungee straps.

I also kept the tarp/bungees in the truck until I bought an STC soft top. Now the Blazer is Garaged for eternity, so I hardly ever use the top unless a sudden rain storm comes across Lake Michigan!!!

I've driven mine in the rain when I got caught before... that's why I switched to vinyl flooring :D

Craig, why dont you just get a soft top, and put the top up if it rains and keep it down when it isnt raining?

I knew someone would say that... :D

Several reasons. One is cost. The cheapest one I've found is around $500.

Another reason is looks. I don't like the way they look.

Thirdly, I built a pulley system in my garage to hoist the hardtop, and when the weather gets colder I want to put it back on. From what I understand, the soft tops are semi-permanent and require some drilling (no way) and you would have to completely remove it if you want to put the hardtop back on.

I know. The mere thought of me driving the '73 in the rain is horrifying...:haha:

Everyone can laugh all they want, but my 87 hasnt seen rain in almost 2 years:D And i hope to keep it that way.

Time to be a pic whore

And that is why I am going to pay you $200.00 and gas to come to Toledo and help me make one!

there was no way I would ever take a Sawzall to any body panel of my Blazer.

:haha: :haha: :haha:

Craig, that is a really smart idea! Not the driving part tho, the eyelets on the tarp and the bungee cords would do a number to the paint on the beautiful K5 of yours.

I think that everyone on this site that has a full top has looked like that at one time or another. Mine has several times. When I first got it it didn't have a top. After I shoveled the snow out of the interior i covered mine with a tarp.. If you have to drive it as long as you don't have to stop you won't get wet at speeds of 20mph or faster. I came home from a carnival one night in mine and is started raining on me. I was surprised as long as I avoided traffic lights I was dry. My G/F at the time wasn't too impressed when it started Thundering and lightening though.

Opps forgot why I was going to post in first place.

My emergency plan even though I have a half top.
Park under the first under pass and wait.
