wekk around christmas time i will probaly pay up i ussualy get lots of those credit card type gift certificates.

I think your truck might look pretty good if you do put the pushbar back on. But no roll bar, just my .2 cents

I've been busy...

I've been busy over my Thanksgiving vacation. I've ripped out the old core support, cut out the cracked x-member, and I painted/undercoated a lot of key spots. As of now I have the new ORD x-member installed, which was more of a bitch than I thought. Mostly because its impossible to drill the nessesary holes with springs and an axel right under the frame. I had to remove the sway bar to get a better angle, so I repalced the bushings. Also there isn't a whole lot of clearance between the x-member and the oil pan. I have a set of ORD's competition poly motor mounts which will be installed later, when I have access to an engine hoist. But for now, enjoy the pictures:

hey I dont know if you park it during the rust season up there but I always liked to make the drip holes on the fenders larger where the cowl water exits the fenders, the leaves are what kill these trucks...one more option is to spray some bedliner spray in there for some more protection against rust out?
 
Looks good Glenn. I got an engine hoist next to the shed, if you ever wanted to come up this way.

I keep the cowl clear of leaves and I do see the drip from the fenders. But I'd have to take the fenders off in order to hit that spot with undercoat.


And Ben, I may hit you up for that engine hoist... ;)

Lookin good man....:waytogo: As for the crack next to the steering gear box DIY4x makes the kit to fix that I think.. I have to look at mine a lil closer and see if its cracked yet.. If its not I think I am gonna get the reinforcement kit...

I already have ORD's bolt in brace. I think I'll just drill a hole at the end of the crack and then weld it.

So I have the truck complete. Of coarse I forgot to paint to the grill... oh well...

so next weekend is grill paint and innerfender paint.

Looks good man. I guess I should really take a look at some of the problem areas for these things. Been so focused on the floors, I haven't looked at any other areas.
 
Hmmm

So the crack has progressed and there is another one on the opposite corner. I think that its been getting worse since I installed the ORD cross member. What I think thats going on is that the old x-member had been giving way to the stress put on teh frame from the steering box, and now that I eliminated it, that makes the frame right at the steering box the weekest point, thus progressing the crack. :rolleyes:
 
Offroad lights!!!

So I finally desided to do something about the 2 KC daylighters I had sitting in my garage for over a year. What do you think? :D

sorry no pictures tonight... its raining...

But the lights look really good behind the grill and still shine bright through it.
