My "Official" Stepside Restoration Thread and LS Swap 2021

Thats good, because you will need spares when you seriously run duralast belts! ;)

What was that Heath??? I cant hear you over the sound of Glenn's squeaking belts....

Ive been running the same $5 belts for 3 years, and have put plenty of miles on. Id say im pretty content with them. ;)

If Glen put your $5 belts on his engine they would be right back off with the rap of the throttle. Soup your engine up a little more(heads and cam), you will see what I mean. You'll also enjoy the extra power.

Glen, are your belts really squealing? Did you paint the pulleys? I did that once, never could get any belt to grip on it, you are better off buying new factory pulleys, they are sometimes cheaper than belts.

My 383 kept chuckin belts in my Beaumont no matter what I tried. Switched it to the mid 80s serpentine style fan belt, and left the power steering a v belt. Haven't chucked a belt in the few thousand miles I've ran it since.

The problem I had was that I put new gates belts on and immediately hit the road to Michigan. The belts take time to break in and they stretch a little and so by the time I hit the dunes the belts were loose again and squealing badly under the high load of the electric fan. I tightened them before hitting the road again and haven't touched them until yesterday.

Did you ever weld the frame up?
Nope... been way too busy and my cousin is currently borrowing my welder. It's on the list... :deal: loooong list with a lot of house stuff ahead of anything truck related.
