I had a 74 Monte...454/T400 car...great "personal luxury" car...a nice solid car, and heavy....had them swivel buckets in it. A great idea I thought!
I bought a black '74 Monte Carlo off a garage customer when I worked at a parts store back around 1989--belonged to his brother--it had a 454 and a TH400,I bought it for the motor, but should never have cannibalized it,the car had swivel buckets, wasn't real rusty or rotted, and my dad loved the seats, having Parkinson's he had a tough time getting in & out of cars...paid only 500 bucks for it too..
When I drove the car home,I said to myself ,"Its a shame to use it only for parts"...if the drive was longer,I probably would have changed my mind about parting it out.
I never registered it,it sat in the yard about a year, then I pulled the motor,I ended up trading that for a better '73 454 my brother had that had a fresh valve job..the Monte motor had non foulers on the rear plugs, but it didn't smoke, knock or tick..
It ended up being used as an ice racer ,one of my older brothers friends bought it off me for almost what I paid for it..
Another entry in my book of "stupid moves" from the past..
