No offense but when you air down that should have been cake. I run 4 psi in the dunes, and can climb way steeper hills then that in 2wd. With those TSL's you should have been able to walk all over at a low pressure, what PSI were you running?
That's what I was thinking... but tsl's are a really aggressive tread which will sink ya' quick out in pismo...

None taken, right by my avatar it says 4x4 n00b for a reason.I was at 10psi. I don't want to go any lower than that, as 16.5s are notorious for blowing a bead. Also, the day I got stuck, the sand was a lot lighter, so I was just digging. In the pics I posted it had been sitting for 2 days, and the sand was a lot more compacted, and the wind had blown quite a bit of the light stuff away.
I understand what you're saying but if you're ever in a situation like that I'd definately say air waaaay down and try to get out... do whatever it takes to not leave it there overnight.
