my TRAZER build thread...take a gander

im looking for rear cage ideas i was thinking about doing a hoop that follows the lines of the cab and then putting a crossbar right across the top of the toolbox then putting an x in that area that would go over the window. the have two bars come down from each top corner and have then go through the wood in the bed and tie into the frame then i would put another x inbetween those two bars. would this be weak or what the reason i cant put an x through the whole hoop is because the toolbox is about an inch from the cab so i cant fit tube inbetween.

Stumbled across someone parting a m1008 on craigslist if you still looking for a 60
http://sacramento.craigslist.org/pts/1109505664.html

damn thats a clean one. if i had the money id buy it but i dont i think i might be trading a guy some stuff for a 60 but idk yet im keeping my fingers crossed oh and im trading a buddy the 14 bolt thats on the back of the trazer for a 205 so ill have it driving. im also working on making my doubler stuff right now all i need is an intermediate shaft made and a 32 spline sm465 output and my $hit will be super strong

I know it... don't really have any other options though.

What kills me is you can get a 2.5 rockwell for the same price.

Pretty sure Dean Reed does custom shafts, http://www.kickassoffroad.com/index.html. Wheeling mix canyon Sunday if you want to join, probably head out around 9:30 or so.

oh crap nice! yea ill prolly head to mix aint got nothing better to do. what do you think of my rear cage ideas. think ittl hold up
Sounds like it will hold up, I would try to run something on the bottom half between the cab and box though, even if it is a small diameter, to protect against the parallelogram effect in a side flop. Not really sure where the second x your talking about is though (to much beer tonight) so that might do it. Draw it up in paint real quick

i wish i had paint macs dont have the program for some reason but the second x would be between the two bars that go from the top drivers and passenger side corners angling down to the rear of the bed

Ah got it, I would still try to get something between the cab and box. Are you planing on running the bars straight to the back of the bed? seems like with an x between straight bars would take up a lot of bed space...

yea i was thinking the same thing but i mean without that there wouldnt be very much bracing

true, you could throw a bend in there to get them up a little higher kinda like how mrdrinksale or however you spell his username did. Make them come straight up off the rear corners for 18" or so then up to the cab corners, with some gussets it would be plenty strong

yea idk i kinda dont like the way his rear cage is set up. it looks like pooh IMHO no offense mdal(short for mr drinks a lil)

If you are looking for a doubler intermediate shaft, you can also try Sumner Machine. They make the shafts for Northwest Fabworks

What spline counts? Or what machine shop? Thinking about making a 241/205 doubler sometime but it would be nice to keep the 10 spline 205
