my TRAZER build thread...take a gander

got the bed pretty much done... i think it looks cool. but ive still got some stuff to do on it. i have it so it bolts on ill get pics of how i mounted it later whe i finish it all

and just in case anyone is wondering i made the bed narrower than the box because that was the width i felt was safe from tire rubbing when i get the 40's

Looks like it is starting to all come together. Are you going to run an internal cage? or internal/external kinda like mrdrinksalil?

umm ill do an in cab cage and a hoop outside of the cab that will connect back into the rear of the frame so it will be somewhat like mrdrinksalils

Nice, does that mean your getting a bender? might have to borrow it if you do...:whistle:
haha i dont wanna fiddle around with a crappy bender like the bottle jack ones that kink so ill have to research one that doesnt kink tube then buy that one soon i hope but until then im just gunna use my buddies bottle jack style bender for my front bumper but thats just because there arent any radical bends in the design i could prolly get him to let you use it sometime if you want.

I have a bottle jack pipe kinker, used it for my seat cage and tire carrier. They are pretty ****ty, I wouldn't trust it for anything structural, not to mention the bends are flat and just look like ass. To get it to bend decent, I would move it over about a 6" area, bend it a little then move and bend some more. I should just get a real job so I can afford a decent bender...and a locker...and some tires...

haha i bet you could find a 14 bolt with a detroit for a good price and for tires theres some good ass deals on craigslist. i found 39.5 tsls on rims with like 80 percent tread for 500:eek1::eek1: if only i had the money thats a smokin deal

I got the rear covered looking for 60 parts which are almost never on craigslist. Tires are tricky to find on craigslist too, damn 16.5" rims, your pretty much limited to interco which isn't bad I love my tsl's justs make them kinda rare. Smoking deals are out there though I saw a warn 16.5 almost brand new going for $500 in sf a couple weeks ago. I am just hoping the $211 in my bank account takes me to spring break....

yea haha 211 bucks would not take me far at all...but about that winch i know this sounds stupid but im not planning on running one...it will just be motivation to make my rig as capable as possible...but i suppose if i got one for free id set it up

Even if your rig is capable as hell its always nice to have the added insurance/option. Especially with a full size, the damn things get squeezed into all sorts of trouble. Take my trip to mix for example, wide ass rig, tight ass canyon, I got denied and had to back out the thing and couldn't make the 50 point turn out of the thing and got wedged between a dam and a tree. If I had a winch I could have just pulled myself around the corner and been done, instead I had to wait for someone else to pull my ass around. Stupid example but sometimes the need is there

yea thats true but i feel like the price of a winch to useage ratio is just not worth it.. spending somewhere around 1000 for a good winch and mabey using it once a month possibly less is just chitty

true but that one time could make it worth it... I think it is one of those near completion purchases at least for me

Right on...

not trying to be a dick here but I would grind some of those welds out and and put a good pass on them. I've been repairing heavy equipment, trucks, and semi's for a while now and if I've learned anything at all it's that those welds will crack.

The weld on the bottom of the piece of flatbar closest to the camera in the third pic needs to be rewelded.

Again just trying to help.:waytogo:

yea i know it lol part of the reason that one is so chitty if cus there was 3/8 inch gap inbetween and that big clump that kinda looks like a weld is a rivet.
but it looks alot worse in that pic than it is

what other welds were you talking about so i can check and re weld

Don't see any others in the pics... I posted wrong:doah:. Always a good idea to double check though. It's alot easier to fix stuff now then it is once the bed/body goes on or it breaks on the trail.

yea i will admit that not all the welds ive done have been the best of my ability on this truck because ive been in suck a rush but on the welds that support crucial things ive made sure they were as perfect as i could get them. but on that bed mount i think im gunna do a double pass on it tomorrow to kinda beef stuff up and make it look nicer

Just keep at it man... pretty soon it'll be like breathing. By the way your rig is coming along nicely. :waytogo:
