my TRAZER build thread...take a gander

Dude sweet build. Shame you cali boys miss out on the dual exhaust! Trade off I guess, most the old junkers are still on the road over here. If you find one it looks like it was pushed off a clif! Anyways keep up the good work!

in post 395 is that a wheel bearing thats being used as a body mount? also what size front tire is that and are the hubs on the eatons a bolt on type the the selectro hubs on a dodge? its coming along nicely and im loving the flex you have in the front springs. are the sliders 2x3 or 2x4 rock sliders? what gears are in the eatons and are they locked? do you have anymore info on the eatons and any updates?

no those bearings are from the idler gear in an np205. they are there on top of the body mounts to space up the radiator support. the tires are 32's. the hubs are bolt on warns. the sliders are 3x4. the gearing in the eatons is 4.56 and the rear has a detroit front is open but im going to put a detroit in it after i put the dana 60 outers on it. what kind f info do you want on eatons? and the only update i have is that i finished welding the steering arm for the axle and the next thing im gunna do is order a bunch of crap from sky and diy4x so i can button up the steering and im going to make my rear shackles.

can you order a detroit for an eaton or is it the same as a 14BFF in design? i don't know too much about eatons except that they are supposed to be pretty strong and any info you have on them would be appreciated. i think a local junkyard has 1 or 2 eatons if somebody didn't get to them before me

well theyre a one piece sheetmetal design like a toyota axle so the housing is extremely strong. they use third's so its easy to work on. they have detroits that came in them stock but they are hard to find so it is easier to just put a detroit for a 14 bolt in them then put 14 bolt axle shafts in it and ur good. i think the main reason people dont use them is because it scares them since there isnt a whole ton of info on them. but they are bada$$ axles

i think what scares people also if parts sourcing and prices. i heard parts for Eatons tend to get a bit pricey

eatons arent that scarce in wrecking yards so if i needed something i would just go take it from a yard. not that hard. but i know what youre saying some people are just too lazy to put any effort in to find something i guess:rolleyes:

Whats with that steering arm?

it was welded to the side of the base when i got it and i cut it off and welded it in its current location for the crossover. i know its jangly but im not too worried since it was drove on welded the way it used to be for 10 years

Is the cap cast iron? Chopped pitman arm looking steering arms always scares me. It might be because theres only 1 pic but it just looks ghetto.
