What is the technical name of the parts in yellow. The boot is torn on the left one and I think it may be worn out and that might be causing play in my steering wheel.

that's your drag link

damn your fast^^

And it's a two piece deal? And there are two more on the other wheel? Am I correct?

No. One drag link.
so its a drag link and I have one on each side ?

also I plan on lifting my blazer in the near future. Am I going to need to change out the drag link when I lift it or can I go ahead and replace it now and not have to worry about it when I get the lift on?

well I be damned. There is only one. I guess its time to reaplace it? Any suggestion on where to get one? and should I get it aligned afterwards? and should I replace the tie rod ends too?

if you have the money replace the tierod ends and tthe ends on the draglink at the same time. then get it aligned

If your lifting it, just wait until after to mess with it.

will do. where is a good place to find a drag link?

A parts store.

Moog is the preference for brand usually. ES2026R and ES2027L are the part numbers.

You can grab the joint body and the stud and move them. If they feel loose and sloppy, they are. If it's still bolted up to the truck, put your palm (don't pinch your fingers) on the pitman arm and the joint body (and the steering arm and joint body for the other side), and feel for any movement when the truck is steering the tires under its weight. You can buy replacement boots if the joint is fine, but most people just buy a new joint. I tear the TRE boots off all the time on rocks, so I keep replacements around.

thanks. If I replace the drag link now and then lift it in 6 months will I have to replace it again or just adjust it once its lifted?

those part numbers you gave me came up as tie rod ends on oriellys website. I know the drag link looks pretty much like tie rod ends but is that the right numbers?

Instead of messing with it to get it apart just pick up a new sleeve too, they were pretty cheap. Most lifts are either a taller steering arm or pitman arm so more than likely you will use the same one.

with the lift im looking to get it is going to have a raised steering arm. Looks like i'm gonna be changing the drag link and tie rod ends next weekend.

dropped pitman arm is even better and a little easier to change than a raised steering arm
