Name this winch??? Rebuilding a Vic Hickey Sidewinder

So now what about the housing?

Still cracked and sitting on top of my solvent tank. :haha:

Haven't found the right guy to weld it up for us yet... i'm in no big rush, it's just a fun project to see if we can make it work again.

I think it's cool, but if it won't work I would much rather have a 8274 any way.

I has a 8274 sitting on the floor of the garage :shame::whistle::haha:

I wanted to get this motor back together but that stud goes through the housing and i only have one washer isolater... i don't remember seeing two of them. The one that I have sitting on top went on the outside, I think there should be one for the inside??

It passes through a square hole in the housing that is also lined with a paper type gasket.

Is it needed? What should i make a new one out of?
Cardboard, Plastic, I was thinking leather would be best?

Ok back together...shaft is kinda hard to turn.

Anyone able to tell me how to bench test this thing,
How to hook up power, ground, Fire!? Haha.

It should be standard series motor configuration. +12V will go to one of the two front terminals. The other front terminal will be connected to the back terminal. To reverse direction, reverse the the front connections. Ground is through the case. Hopefully somebody else will confirm this.

Or just hook up the solenoid pack and let it do the switching.

Thanks! The solenoid pack needs to be gone through yet...

That's what I was describing. I'm not responsible for damage, right?

Yeah i was pretty happy with how it sounded!
Especially considering it looked like junk when I took it apart. Wow i can't believe what that home brew rust remover did for this motor!
