Did Raucsh Creek this weekend!! Lots of fun, and a full size can make it thru. Garlic Breath proved this out.

Why people are worried about a fullsize making it through is beyond me. My wife makes it thought there with the Blazer with no problems.:D
Great people, and seems to be no problems with management, we had the run of the place. Very helpful

Not alot of campsites, you will have to dbl up on the sites.

Inclines were awesome, seatbelts and good brakes required!! Mudholes not to deep although we haven't had alot of rain lately, one was posted at 5'

STAY AWAY from STONE CREEK unless you have a trailer as you will break!!!!
Garlic Breath did you fix your driveshaft?

I know plenty of people who don't trailer their rigs and have run Rock Creek with no problems. It's all in the line you take across it.

Great weekend and great people up there. My back is feeling better after 3 days of normal use. Jim

Maybe get a food vender for a sponser-- Hatfield Packing is down our way and they make hamburgers, hotdogs and awesome srapple.

How is this for a FULLSIZE at Rausch.

Kinda like SPAM

In Kentucky they used to use scraps of meat left over from the butchering of a hog. The parts one wouldn't use otherwise or to small to use or be sold. Scrapple is a savory mush in which cornmeal and flour, are simmered with the pork scraps and trimmings, then formed into a loaf.

It was something the Germans and Dutch brought with them and is Kinda a regional dish to the New England and Pennsyltucky area. We used to fry it and make sandwiches or cook it in with eggs and potatoes. Oh yea lots maple syrup on it or ketchup is good too. *some of this I learned on TV watching "taste of America".

NOW back to the subject:

Witter has offered to give me a guided tour of ALL the property on September 8 th (this year) when I go down. I would like to have a little company when I go. I haven't gotten takers yet on this. If anyone is interested on going on this pre-run scouting trip let me know.

Also Jaros I was thinking a scout troop might want to do that or a church. Sell like chips hamburgers, hot dogs and canned pop. If they had done it before maybe some chicken dinners. I know we will have at least thirty people there plus whoever is from the general public. I know Lynn and Witter wouldn't mind.

Heck we might even get a good wet T-shirt contest going on Saturday night. :D

I was just expressing that if you run Rock Creek it does not mean you will be towing it home. It all depends on the line you take.

OK don't bring a trailer have fun on Stone Creek!! I deleted it for you.
I was just expressing my opinion that the trails are narrow in places compared to other trails I've been on. The '72 that was with us dented 3 sides.

jaros I had no problem with the post I want your input that is one of the reasons I am going there to meet with Witter and Lynn. That way they can see what needs to be done to adjust the trails for width and we can see anything we need to help us plan for this. I would like to have you there on September 8th.

I always used to tell people who said "I have a dumb question" the only dumb question is the one you don't ask!

I guess it is up to me to do the pre scouting since no one else has stepped up. I am only doing the green trails since my truck is a DD only! Be nice if someone else was there to see how the other trails are.

What exactly do you want to know about the trails?

Can they be doen in a fullsize?
I think that has been answered quite a few times. Yes they can. Some harder trails will have tight spots but nothing that good spotting and smart driving can't overcome. Yes, some of us will get damage, if anybody can't except the fact that it can happen no matter what you drive, and it can happen on any trail, then stay home. Last year we had a brand new (he had it for 3 weeks) H2 wheeling on GREEN trails and got body damage. It could have been easily avoided but he chose to take the more challanging bypass instead of staying on the easier part of the trail. There is a risk of damage no matter what and it's just the nature of what we do. Everytime I have guided up at RC it was mostly fullsizes and only one time we had to drag one home on a trailer but that was because his fuel pump went out and we chose to drag it home to pull the tank to fix it. It was a 3/4 ton Dodge.

Oh and BTW, I should be there on the 8th providing nothing changes with my kids schedules.

We did nothing but blacks all day!! Maybe I can steal my sons Jeep and we can do the tough stuff. I'll check it out.
I'll contact Hatfield Packing to see if they will donate hotdogs for us, not sure if we should turn other people on to scrapple. ha ha

Jim, you got it a bit wrong. I only scraped my pass door, and that was a doh. I was rolling forward trying to get my drivers door shut and rolled by a tree too close. Lack of attention. The other 2 dents were previously obtained at NCOR in NY.

BUT, I will say there are quite a few places where the trees made for more stress than fun on the trail. It is VERY do-able in a fullsize with patience and the right lines just the way it is, even the trail warning fullsizes to take the bypass was a breeze.

Still working on the shaft, no one seems to be able to find a 7 inch slip joint.

Another thing to think about is there is NO potable water within a few miles.

Wayne I will email later tonight, jaros you made me chuckle (about sharing). I know the full sizes will make it beside witter's green booger does ok if he don't burrie it. I have been talking to the Ram Chargers about their trips. Witter is just going to take us around and if it is to tight it will probably get widened on one of the brush clean ups.

Lynn said they have a welder on site if we need one for a break down.

Did you let Lynn or Witter know where they were? That way they can get it taken care of. On the water part yea we have to bring our own drinking water in. Just south of the park there is Days Inn, BaskinRobbins, DunkinDonuts, Wendy's, Subway and a full-service campground.

Lynn posted this up so I am passing it on:
The Days Inn located south of the park is now offering discounts to RC visitors. Ask for Tammy to get the discounted room rate of $58.50 (which I understand is significantly less than what Comfort Inn is now charging).

They are located about 15 minutes south of the park, from Interstate 81, take Exit 90 (Lebanon/Lickdale exit). The other businesses there are a Wendy's, Subway, a full-service campground, and a restaurant-style Dairy Queen.

Days Inn has a spa with a Jacuzzi, and a washer/dryer available. The rooms all have refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, hair dryer, and 2 double beds.

The local number there is 717-865-4064. Ask for Tammy to get discount.

The landscape of the park's acreage varies greatly. The majority of the area is lined with trees, providing substantial shade during the hot summer months and adding driving challenges year round as the trails wind though the forest. The park is divided into two parts, based on the topography of the area. A key feature of the west property is a large glacial deposit, called the “Rock Creek”. The deposit begins within a few feet of a main access road and extends over 1800 feet. At its widest point, the deposit is over 150 feet wide. The boulders that litter the area are large, and packed close enough together that only a handful of trees have proven sturdy enough to survive in the area. The deposit has been providing entertainment for the larger vehicles that venture into the park and has proven to be a challenge to the best drivers and spotters.

A lot of planning has gone into, and continues to go into, the development of the trails in the Off Road Park. Trails are being built with the Off Road Club in mind. Many of the “club'' trails have a lower rating, but have multiple “hard” obstacles as a challenging option. It is not uncommon to see competition rock crawlers on the same trail as a stock vehicle with both drivers attaining the same level of “pucker factor”, without destroying their vehicles completely.

They have posted up a gallery of pictures of the park and would be good for anyone interested in going to view them.

I thought it was odd they had no dumpsters for trash also

You pack it in, you pack it out. Why should any offroad park be responsable for our trash. There is nothing odd about it.

Rocks are all doable, with the right line. The incline is what scared the crap out of me,tightened the belt up and put the shoulder straps on, white knuckles. Real glad I bought them for him for Christmas. It's great place to wheel, you'll have fun!
