Need a little help with new lift

Don't matter if you can't see the pics, your problem is different than mine was. Should have read a little better.:doah:

I have a 6" rought country on my suburban. what i did was install the springs on the axle(a little loose) then i put the front spring bolt in on both sides. then to get the rear to line up i lowered the body down so there was weight on the spring's. But I also had a Lift to do this on. may be harder doing it on the ground. ONE thing rought country is a rought ride. I wont ever buy them again. hope that helps a little

Sorry I didn't notice the above reply's when I posted. I have the bolts to the springs in real loose so there is alot of side to side movement. So what your saying is unbolt the axles then ubolt them in then install the front spring bolt? That would work if I could manipulate the axle enough.

Thanks,

Jason

the first thing you need to do is unbolt that d@mn driveshaft. it dosent matter one bit if the spring bolts are loose ot not.

Yea i think your problem is the drive shaft

Me too. If I push on the axle the driveshaft doesn't droop as low. Sorry I didn't reply sooner had to change my sons diaper. Newborns sure do go through alot of diapers.

So I should disconnect one of the eye bolts and then install the ubolts? How am I going to stretch the spring enough for it to bolt up? To be honest that sounds alot harder than just pulling the axle, I'm having trouble visualizing how I would pull this off.

Jason

Its not as hard as it seems. Unbolt the spring and put it on the axle. Put the ubolts on loosely. Then with the help of a jack you can put then front part of the spring in by rolling and raising the jake. Then the back of the spring(shakel end) part is a snap. It seems like its alot more work but it was much easier for me than trying to wresle and twist the axle to fit in place.

But like stated above your drive shaft is probly causing it not to move.

Sounds like a lot more work than it seems though, if I can wrestle the axle into place then I'll try it. No sense tearing it apart now if I can make it to work.

I had the same problem when I installed My Tuff country 3" springs recently.I had to put a floor jack under the pinion area on the diff to rotate just a lil' bit and get everything to line up. I did not remove my driveshafts either. It worked out pretty slick lookin' back! Good luck :k5:

Today I disconnected the drive shaft and used 2 HD straps to pull the axle into position. I then raised the axle so the center pin would go completely in the hole in the axle.

So with that problem solved I started putting on the new ubolts. I was only able to get the inner ubolts on both sides of the axle in. My other 2 are bent to a degree that they will not go into the spring plate. Can I start to thread the nuts onto the ubolt to protect the threads so I can place each ubolt in a vice to bring each side closer together?

I'm going to finish the last 2 ubolts and the new front shocks tomorrow then I plan to start on the rear.

You have to squeeze hard , and it also should be noted that the springplates that originally had the swaybar mount has different hole spacing on one side of the plates for some reason , at least on the ones I own :thumb:

No kidding? I knew it was something stupid like that, although now that I have removed the swaybar I can move the plates around alot more ;). I'll get the front end finished up in a minute after I get off the computer. I wonder what is going to stop me tomorrow when I start on the rear?

Jason

yes its alot easier without that on there. I took mine totally off. better flex. but the truck does sway now..

It was alot of pain but I got them in by squezzing them in with my hands. I finished up the rear end today so tomorrow I'll bleed the brakes and have my new tires mounted up.
