I have researched previous posts to see what the chatter was about aftermarket fenders. Many of the posts which reference aftermarket parts are 7-8 years old. I saw references to products from Keystone, Gordon, LMC, etc. It looks like LMC doesn't get high marks on the quality/fitment of there fenders. I have bought from them before, but not body parts. Can anyone give me some up to date guidance a source for good quality front fenders. I assume OEM are still going to be ridiculously priced. Am I better off searching for used GM?

Would welcome any references to good quality and decent priced aftermarket?

Thanks

After having talked with folks on here and seen some of the crap they got and talking with a buddy who is a very good body man I'd say try and find actual GM parts. You can find it if you look.

Last fall I was in a dairy barn chock full of old truck parts. Mainly Dodge but Ford and GM stuff as well. It's all out there.

Junk yard

I went to couple of junk yards today but didn't really find anything decent. Even if I did find something, I would have to pay to have them cleaned up, (sanded and primed). Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to do that. I could pull them off an old truck, but will leave the rest of the install to a pro. With that said, I'm either going to have to find someone 1) who has a used set of GM fenders already prepped, 2) quality aftermarket, or 3) OEM fenders.

Has anyone ever used parts from Sherman & Associates Inc?

Lots of guys with a set of fenders and doors just sitting in their garage for that pickup they were going to rebuild years ago. Watch Craigslist and the local forums, paper, traders, etc. I see the stuff on CL here all the time.

fyi any body part you get will need prep work and primer and paint.

so best pay up or find what you like. its all going to need work.

the aftermarket tin is all identical from what i've seen.. all taiwan stampings...

i found a whole clean front clip on CL for $200.... the cost of a pair of aftermarket, without shipping...

Not to mention the aftermarket stuff invariably ends up involving every mook who works for UPS or Fedex kicking, dropping, throwing, dragging, twisting, bending, humping, and god knows what else your body parts in their box. By the time they get to you they're almost always bent, dented, or just FUBAR.

I forget who but someone on here ordered some body part and it took like 4 tries to get a good one in.

Has anyone used Goodmark Industries or Year one?
A friend of mine is restoring a '68 Camaro and bought all of his body parts from Goodmark. They were all good quality and shipped by Truck not Ups.

I've tryed aftermarket fenders before and there just so much thinner metal compared to the OEM fenders that it really is best to go on a hunt for OEM parts. There out there and can be had cheaper then the aftermarket usually. Last set of fenders i grabbed at the local junkyard for $60 and there still going strong. Unlike my aftermarket **** that started to separate the skin and fender frame while wheeling and almost dropping the battery out  not to mention holes just not lining up like they should.
