Need info and pics of an 89 chevy dually

See if the rear cover will fit on the front diff. If so, then D70. Or try looking on the webbing on the diff housing and see if it says 70 on it.
Its definitely a 70. An 80's cover is more elongated veritcally than a 60/70 cover.

Good. now do the 14ff disc brackets from Ruff Stuff fit the d70? Must take measurements later.....

I can't tell you with 100% certainty that is not a D80 rear, because the pics are kind of crappy. outside of the cover, the casting of the center is different than a D70/60 family. heres a pretty good shot of the D80 thats going into my '97 dually.

D70HD's are a little complicated when it comes to disc brakes.

Blackbirds offers a kit for them, all bolt-on.

DIY4X sells them but welding is required.

Using 14FF brackets isn't quite that easy. If you've seen the bearing hubs and drum offsets of both, you'll quickly understand how the brackets won't allow the calipers to mate to the rotors.

Do a search. Its been the subject of talk before and there are some others who've done it.

I knew that. I just wanted to see if he would swap covers.

Ha Ha.:D

Well the salt spreader is definitly scrap. Further inspection show all the pillow block bearings are shot, the front of the conveyor is sitting on the bed and the entire front bottom is rotted out. The hydraulic pump still turns tho.

I can't get the fuel pump to come on. It was working when I bought it but isn't working now. I dumped about a gallon of gas in it. Maybe needs more gas in the tank. and fuel filter. Wiring???

I have to pull the motor from the suburban and get it out of the way before I can spend too much time on the truck.

As for the d70 disc swap. I see where Ruff Stuff has a set of brackets. I have calipers and pads already. I will need to get a set of rotors clearanced. Or I could call Kert and get his kit but that means welding them on.

Thanks for the help,
Bruiser

Well I need to replace the fuel pump and since I'm gonna put a fuel cell in to replace the stock tank I guess I need an electric fuel pump.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, bruiser
