I know a lot of you guys are military ride buffs so I need to pick your brains. I imagine the parts I need are going to need to be sourced from some sort of military setup out of a 6x6 type truck, or something similar.

I need two things...

1. A big transfer case, must be for a divorced application. It needs to be very heavy duty, rated for a 10ton application at the least, up to a 20-30 ton application. I could care less on what the low range ratios are, just as long as it's got high & low I'm happy.

2. A pair of axles in the same weight capacity where BOTH are steering axles, yes, I need 4 wheel steering. Planetary axles are completely fine too.

Keep this in mind if something pops into your head, I NEED to be able to get parts for this stuff locally, like bearings and seals. Even hard parts if available too. Also, where I could buy the stuff would be helpfull too.

Thanks.:D

first off...what in the hell are you needing 10 ton rated stuff for?

2ndly...good luck getting parts locally. Sometimes its hard to even get d60 parts that day...

I want to rebuild one of my bankouts and I might need to replace the current axles underneith it, and I know I will need a tcase.

When you are trying to turn Rice and Cane tread that big through 18" of mud loaded at 30,000lbs, you want stout drivetrain parts.

My yellow and white rig used to be a tractor, and it has a tractor drivetrain. My yellow and green one pictured second runs circles around it with an Allison auto/ standard Tcase drivetrain. I want to put a Pete or Kenworth cab and hood on it and get rid of the slow tractor style drivetrain and go with an HD truck style drivetrain with a high powered Cummins/Allison auto/some sort of HD Tcase.

Basically aiming for something like my neighbors rig...

So your looking for something like this:

I think the only 10 or 20 ton truck you will find are going to be tractor/trailers. Not sure on specs but I don't think they are real common. And I was going to say look on boyce equipments website but they only carry up to 5-ton truck stuff.
Also I beleive Hemmits are rated at 10 tons

EDIT: ok the pic isnt showing, but click the red x and it will

I think we might be confusing things here.

When you say 10-20 tons are you talking cargo capacity or total weight?

The Conversations forum over on www.SteelSoldiers.com would be a GREAT place for you to ask this question. LOTS of guys with big green stuff over there.

i would say get the semi truck from mill spec stuff and remove 1 axle and possible streach frame and be done other than body swap for your grain bin and few other things.

You should make one that it a center pivot.
MMM, too hard to incorporate the grain bin and all into a center pivot. In order to do that I'd have to have a long wheel base, which is an enemy of what these things need to do. My green and yellow rig has a tighter steering radius than my K5.:haha:

I would say total weight would be around 30K or so. Right out of the range of a set of 5 ton axles.

Well, there's bigger stuff and it has been surplused out before. Check SS for advice on that sorta stuff.

Man every time I see your posts it makes me want to come drop in more and more :) You've got the coolest stuff sittin' around your property...

we'll not sure about where you are but theres lots of 6x6 and such trucks in the Alberta Oilfield. Peterbuilts Kenworths and others are heavy haul bedtrucks. planetary drives most in well excess of 5ton rating. power towers dropboxes the whole works. I'd brows online truck salvage places. This is a '78 Kenworth....the C500 series Kennys are a good bet to rob what you need. As I think they're my far the most common in any number of configurations.

Would you be doing a build thread for that?? (I know, everyones got one, but this would be quite a different breed of build thread)

Man I am kinda drolling over some of these rigs....:bow:

Demon,

I think your stuff that you work on up there is going to be too big for my application. Most of that stuff is 40+ton isn't it?

Clod King,

I didn't plan on doing a build thread as it really isn't a main stream "CK5" thing, but I guess I could if a few were interested enough.

I mainly was looking for links and ideas.
