cold chop saws... :dunno: :ears:

who has one? are they worth it? how noisy? blade costs?

links to good brands? I'd have to keep this under $600....

2 different styles. Wet and dry. The nice thing about both is, no hot slag shooting all over the place. Dry still slings metal everywhere, wet controls he release of the filings. I bought a demo model wet cold saw for $800 shipped with a stand. 6 years ago. My brother has it now. Taiwan version but worked well. Dry are much less expensive. We have dewalt versions at work which get used daily. Hundreds of cuts per blade in 1/4 wall 4" diameter tubing. Blades are sharpened for $15 by a local company.

Thats the one we use at work. Throws cuttings, but they are not hot. Real noisy too. But what in metal working isn't? Wet saws are quieter. More quiet??

is it doubley better than a sparkfest? :haha:

I don't wanna go wet... I feel if I'm gonna spend 800, I should get a horo saw...

The cool thing with these saws, wet or dry is how square they cut compared to horo bandsaws and regular chop saws. The last fab shop I worked at had a wet version, cut real clean, super square and reasonably quiet.

well, I don't need portable.. quieter would be a blessing... no sweeping per se, REAL nice..

think a wet is a better investment than a bandsaw? not sure I could cut fishmouths on the bandsaw like I do with a chop... that, the speed and size make the wet chop a damn good argument..

whats a good wet brand? wonder if I can find one under 700...

you guys are talking me into it.... :haha: gotta go look around....

Pretty sexy for the money. :waytogo:

The one I used was prolly a $15K machine. Can't recall the brand, it was Scandinavian I think.

think I may pop.. it's gonna knock the tube order off 2, 3, 4 weeks..

but I need something..... the rigid sparkshow has a +/- 1" spec going on..

now.. gotta find free shipping, 800 hurts enough...... :haha:

got $1500 in returns to spend... :pimp: hmmmm, throw another 4, $500 at that, and I can get both now.. and be brokin r' he!!.... :haha:

I'm gonna pop.. fock it... jonesing to buy tube.. but with all the snow in the marina, waiting on tube isn't a bad idea..

stupid browser won't let me log in at baileigh.. :angry1: i'll just call tomorrow.. gal of fluid and a blade too.. gotta see if there's one at a joysey distributor for cheap/free shipping.. but they don't list the dizzys on the site.. :dunno:

I've wanted to try out baileigh, their bandsaw was the one I was eyeballing before too..

think I'm gonna go for the wet Baileigh.. gotta call at the end of the week and see what kind of deal I can get shipped with a gal of coolant..

quieter and cleaner sound mucho appealing..

I'm gonna set it up the way my buffer station is... I have another wider one like this, that I'll put wheels and feet on...
