Having spent the last 20 or so years buying new cars and trucks and leaving them pretty much stock, I've started this K5 project with my son. The Jimmy is a 76 and my latest fiasco is trying replace the POS original seats. I've picked up a pair of bucket seats out of an 89 Suburban, but the mounts are different between the two years. The sliders for the 89 seats bolt directly to the floor of the cab while the 76 seats had 3 inch brackets between the sliders and floor. I would appreciate any suggestions anyone has for mounting the new seats. Pictures would be nice, I'm looking for ideas - keep in mind that I'm not a paid member. Thanks

for stuff like that, i ususally just pick up some steel and start making what i need instead of trying to adapt mismatched parts. just my $.02

Thanks for the input

In response:

The 76 brackets do not bolt to the new seats (at least, for now)

I called the guy I got the seats from, he said the sliders bolted to the floor.

Vortec, I have a feeling that's what we'll do. My son welds and my son-in-law races in a local NASCAR class and builds his own cars - we'll get by.
