New Chevy Trucks Suck Ass!

Choices

Just got a great price for either a Nissan Titan Crew and for a Jeep Wrangler. The jeep is cheaper with lower payments. God I have to get my K5 up and running.

Nissan or Jeep?

check your brake fluid... get it scanned for the svc 4wd code... i see a **** ton of the switches go out (30 or so dollar part) We replace almost 1 a month around here it seems

Have you put some sort of insulating grease on those grounding straps to keep them from re-corroding, or considered relocating the wires?

On the way from work on Friday my ABS light/chime started to go off. My DD is a 2003 Chevy 2500HD Silverado, usally I don't have any problems with it. But I found out after spending $800 to fix a problem, GM has EIGHT computers operating in my truck. I took my truck to a trusted mechanic friend of mine the following day and he worked on it all day. At first the diagnostic computer said three sensors are bad in my truck. Mike my mechanic isolated each one and tested each with a volt meter while drining the truck. It seemed like only the front passanger side sensor was bad. Here's rub #1 GM use to sell the ABS sensor separate from the axle hub... no more now you have to buy a whole new hub when the sensor goes south. So $600+ and 3 hours later the truck seems fine and I drive away all not happy but satisfied. An hour later and 30 miles away the ABS goes off again. Sine then it has gone on and off whenever it wants to. Has anyone had this happen or knows how to stop it. I'm really getting pissed at the undependablity of my DD.

UPDATE TO CURRENT TREAD!
Now My DD cruise control "dis-ingages" whenever it feels like it. This started over the 4th of July. I usally use it during my commute so this is now becoming a MAJOR pain! The friggin truck is FOUR years old and it's acting up! I cannot take it to a dealer, I DON"T TRUST THEM! So if I can't find a fix I'm stuck...

Oh by the way whenever I hit potholes the electric doors unlock... NICE!:doah:
i taked to a sales rep today that has a 08 2500 deisel.and it shuts down after too much snow gets in the grill.:dunno:he had a grill cover on today.

why the hell would it shut down if there's too much snow in the grill?

Another thread that reminds me I'm sooo glad my DD is a beater and my truck is an old GM in good shape.

If the DD gives me **** I expected it and can fix it cheap and my truck is super simple and cheap(ish).

literally the only bad thing i have to say about my truck is that the top of my steering wheel is peeling and it had squishy brakes stock... 223k+ and still goin strong :knock on wood:

Tell you what, give me that sweet truck and it will get rid of all your problems. Nice Fogging truck !!

hmm, well I cant even find my power windows and door locks or the 4x4 button.. odd..

oh yea..it never came with all that crap! I am sooooooo glad I started with a bare bones 2wd work truck

the colorado is a lease..so in three years Ill pick up a new one and never deal with anything:D

Done

The first thing I did was check the fluids, they are all good. My mechanic scanned the truck, there is a problem with either the brake module (again) or the commo between it and the computer.

I'm done, two separate systems going down on a 5 year old truck is too much to deal with...time to punt.

On the Jeep vs Nissan thing...well, one is a large truck with a Dana 44 as a rear axle (known failure point in the Titans) and the other is a smaller 4x4 with an underpowered V6 and gets disappointing gas mileage.

Guess it's up to you.

my 99 yukon is losing its first balljoint after nearly ten years and 116000 miles. otherwise, not one thing has gone wrong.

you have a build up thread right??

sorry to hijack but i want to sex your truck :D

Amen. Mine are both paid for and that's fine with me. My daily driver is a beater too. My K5 still works fine. And when something goes wrong, it's cheap and simple to fix. They can keep their new trucks, and I'll keep all those payment$ I would otherwise be making in my bank account. :haha:
