new daily driver

Yep, you remove the caps and the internal parts.
Then install the NEW external locking hubs.
Really pretty easy.

No prob, glad to be of any help I can. Sounds like you are golden. You are a step ahead of me already, I'm trying to get to 3/4 tons. lol.

Lol! I have been waiting patiently for a k5. So if its true then im greatful

An M1009 CUCV (Blazer) would have had 6 lug half ton axles from the factory. With terrible 3.08:1 gearing.

The axles you have are from a 1976-1979 K20. They probably have 3.73 or 4.10 gearing.

Installing a set of lock out hubs is quite simple.

Thanks! And how can you tell what truck they came out of? What should i be looking to tell?

It's interesting the PO upgraded the axles, but no lift, and small tires. Must have been towing?

The story i got from them was that it was gping to get turned into the toy but his work van needed a transmission. So i helped him get his work van fixed by relieving him of his toy . Lol!

Well you win. Blazer with about as beefcake a rear axle as normal people get!

I just bought one myself by the way, waiting for an 8 lug front to match.

And dose an upgrade like this boost the price of the truck? I only paid 1500 for mine.

I only paid $150, but the 14 bolt is the easy one to get. All the 2 wheel drives had them too. The tough one is the front axle.

It would boost the value to me, but to be honest, our trucks aren't really demanding much of a premium. It would be worth more to someone who knows what they are looking for, but to the masses, not so much. But if you are building a toy, you should be smiling. :D

EDIT: when I said 2 wheel drives, I mean 3/4 and 1 ton trucks.

Ok thanks. I only ask because a rusted out anything around here that is older usually sells for 2000 and up

New builds are always fun count me in! What part of the country you from?
