New "do everything" truck

Lane departure stays off once you set it. My wife used it to get used to the width of the dually on our 2015 driving the narrow country roads but it has been turned off ever since. It is a steering wheel button on my truck. I got lucky and bought this one just before the market went crazy.

We recently bought a 29' fifth wheel. My Sierra 1500 tows it fairly well, but is definitely at the upper limits of what it is rated for. I've been seeing the 6L80/90 has been a decent trans, but not perfect. Apparently the torque convertor is the weak link, and when it goes it takes out the rest of the trans. I would like to tow our 5'er without worrying about the truck too much, so I started looking for a HD replacement.

It's not the ideal time to buy anything, but I don't feel I want to gamble and wait the year or two it might take for the market to normalize. Prices are high, but trade in prices are high too...

I discussed the situation with the boss, and she was surprisingly receptive of the idea. So today we went pick-up shopping and found the new ride.

2018 GMC Denali K3500 SRW, with the L5P Duramax and Allison trans. Only has 24,000 miles on it. I don't normally buy anything with all the options, I guess I can't say that anymore. :D

It's getting the full inspection and detailing on Monday, and we should have it on Wednesday.
Congratulations Rene.
I can understand the feeling of towing with a diesel.
I can't afford any of this stuff but I have the next best thing sitting in storage, just needs the hood fixed and seats put in.
My 01 freightliner with 1650 ft lbs of torque and 425 hp.

Thanks dude, this truck is the right tool for the job, no doubt. I think we lucked out on this truck, they just got it in. It wasn't on their web page yet, hadn't even been washed yet. 24,000 miles is just broke in IMO.

Funny thing, I ran my truck through the car wash a half block away from the dealership, and parked right out front of the showroom. We got to crunching numbers and as expected they were trying to lowball me on the trade while asking premium retail + 10% for theirs. I pushed back some and as they were trying to tell me my truck wasn't that desirable there was a group of people in my truck hoping to buy it...while it still had my plates on it. I pointed that out and got another $2000 more for my trade. There is almost no inventory here, like everywhere. I was looking at possibly ordering a brand new one before we found this one.

Those are cool...harder to park though. :waytogo:

I don't think the 26 feet with the 29' trailer is that much worse than your 19 feet or so with the 29' trailer.
I wouldn't be driving mine by itself, I have way too many cars for that.
Just for towing

Anxious for the pics of it detailed!

I guess they added a 3M clear bra over the front of the hood and over the bumper. Being a painted bumper that's a good thing. My son in law has a 2012 Sierra 1500 with the painted bumper, but his is just trashed. The rock chips are bad and it looks like its been sand blasted and left in salt water.

Rims are the 20x 8.5" Forged ten spoke. Tires look like they'll do for another year or so.

This is my third GMC of this generation. First was a 2015 1500, SLE. I liked it a lot, had few options but the dealer churched it up with some 22"Denali rims and tires. Zero warranty issues in the two and a half years I had it. The 2017 1500 SLE I just traded I had for almost four and a half years. Again, zero warranty issues in that time. Oil changes, that was it. I hope to be as lucky with this one.

Didn’t you have an injector issue on the 17?
