New engine

Good point. Although I think I would rather have a reman GM block than a new "blueprint" block. Plus you probably get 5 more cubes. ha ha

I have no information reguarding the Blueprints "New" blocks. just that it is not remain. I think I'd prefer a genuine GM high nickle block too

I want a drop in and go replacement. That 383 is nice but I'll have to put everything on and break it in. The 355 has to less to add on than 383 and what it does need, I have already. Not sure if it's already broken in though.

I'm waiting to hear from 2 local outfits, so we'll see.

@Wes Harden the 355 is a GM block or the 383?

Having just built a 383. That thing is a sweet deal. What do you think you need to add to it?

I just want one "done" by a professional. I'm getting a bit impatient and irritated. I want to drive this damn c10 and be done at least for little bit.

I've been watching videos of "Rod knock" and im not sure if mine was just valves. I tightened the culprit down, cylinder 3 and the noise went away but. I don't know if that's enough.

I've spent enough on everything else for this truck, it's a bit lame to go with a tired questionable 350 that makes noise.

I understand all that. But what do you think you would need to add to the 383? Throw your intake manifold, carb, and distributor on and send it down the road. Maybe upgrade those at a later date. I’d much rather have the bigger engine for the added torque even if it took me an hour to swap some parts over.

Your depriving your children of walking home because your shitbox broke down. Its a rite of passage

Fair point...I may go the 383 route because as I've been thinking. That would be better in my Blazer as that truck weighs far more. Then throw the 350 into the C10..maybe, that's more than I want to do, for now......

If it's a roller cam I don't need to do the fancy break it t 2000rpm for 20min or whatever it is that flat tappets need.

Buuuuut. Can a 383 run Ram Horn manifolds? I just had the exhaust all done for 350 using the ram horns...
I assume the 383 would be better suited with headers.
I can hopefully use the ram horn for now if I go that route

The 383 long block only $400 more than the 350 long block. Part number BP38318TC1. One left.

The 383 will still make more power and torque than the 350 if they both have ram horns. They would both improve with headers.

$4300 vs $4700

They also have a complete 383 in stock that's like the 350 long block....

This one is in stock? The complete 383 is a bit too much$$$

Will my 650 AVS edelbrock be enough for a stroker?

Do I need to break in the engine?

@folkenheath
You dont need to break in the cam. Still need some heat cycles for the rings

both of the 383's linked above will need a sbc 400 dampener, your flex plate should work. What stall is the converter? Stock?

I have always wanted a 383, should have done last year when they were 2k cheaper.

That said the C10 short bed will git and Sh1& with any of the crate motors here.
If the budget is stretching to far get a performance 350-355 The 650 cfm Avenger will work on 383, might need jetting. It would running out at the top end before properly sized carb. Your carb on 350-355 is just fine.
Keep the ram horns.
