New engine

If its just out of adjustment, you adjust it once, and it should not come back.

And Kain is correct, a single cylinder exhaust leak at the cylinder head sounds a lot like a lifter tick too.

Yeah, I know. I just want to be prepared. When it goes, I can order and be done and not wait until the figure it out with a thread or whatever.
Besides, I want a new engine. I replaced everything else on this darn truck but that.

Changing oil tomorrow and will post pics. Will drive and see if that lifter keeps coming loose. I will say, it did get louder each time I drove it or so it seemed. The exhaust leak may have been masking some of that noise.

It looks like something is floating in there. I cleaned the pan before dumping oil in it.

How to do I filter or better with what?

Because i thought the same thing, could be debris. I tried to get rid of the air bubbles. Shouldn't metal sink?

Open the picture and ZOOM in, looks metal to me.
 
Do you have a magnetic drain plug to inspect?

If not stick a magnet in there and see what sticks to it. If a cam lobe is going out there will likely be iron particles that have ground off the cam lobe and lifter.
 
You can usually use one of those blue shop rags doubled up it'll filter it out, as you pour it into another container.
 
Drain plug was magnetic. I didn't see anything on it. So I took it and kind of felt around the bottom of the pan to see if anything stuck, nothing did or it wasn't conclusive...

This engine sat for 20 years and maybe it just dirt that gathered in the block over that time span.

I can put fresh oil in and run it a bit a do another change. I'm sure it's it's metal more will just continue to collect on the drain plug. But I didn't notice anything and when I rub it eyeween my fingers it's hard to tell, maybe it's just dirt

brass is not magnetic , paint filter in a funnel and see whats it is brass or carbon
or double a paper towel or blue shop towel
 
I did, I rubbed it between finger and thumb I can't feel anything, but I on another try before this strain pictured. I felt something but who knows it could be dirt. The block was dirty and it's super dusty here I Arizona.

Basically, my results leave me with an inconclusive result.

Im thinking fill it up and run it...
