New go fast ride...

My mentality tells me it needs a hinge point at the back of the bed, on top, and a ram in the front to tilt it up while loading or unloading. Would lower and almost eliminate the ramp hinge point.

Just a bunch more work and money.

Just found this thread.

Fab work is looking awesome as always man!

You should be the poster child for this website. Your work has come a long way from taking a pair of hair clippers to your furry dash.....:haha:

What's the total height on that thing, loaded up?

I miss that dash. :)
I can't remember off the top of my head, I believe it was 11 foot or so. Well under the 13 foot max.

What about a beaver tail on that thing. Looks like you should have clearance for the tailgate.

We talked about that too. I have a picture somewhere of a utv rack with one.

Exactly, I have a discussion going on about this thing on Facebook and a hinge system was suggested there too but I'm not willing to dump anymore money into this.
Honestly at this point I'm tempted to sell this to a guy with a stock height truck and when we get home from huckfest start on a cool chase truck inspired flatbed for the dodge. It would solve my problems. No need for long ramps, no real need for a winch or backup winch as I could just drive it up and it would obviously lower the COG. I'll think it over this week.

I like the flat bed idea.

I was going to ask about that earlier but just assumed you wanted the OE bed on the truck.

So, what ended up coming of this whole saga?

Tested it and it rides fine once loaded but has loading issues. It's sitting on the side of my house since I got distracted with different projects and I don't have as much time as I used to between work and school. To be honest I'll probably finish the ramp storage on the deck, slap some paint on it and sell it to a guy with a stock height truck.

Got my fancy new clutch sheave, weights and springs all setup and made an aluminum roof for it. Spent New Years at the dunes with family and friends including chevysmithz71 on here. :)

Looks like it did good. I see all that fresh un-tracked sand in the background of one pic and it makes me sad

Yup, on the other side of the fence. :(
It wasn't nearly as busy out there this year, maybe because it landed in the middle of the week. There were still some decent untouched areas if you went far enough out.

Gave up on the rack. Finished it and painted it then listed on Craigslist. Had a guy come pick it up for about double what I had into materials so I'm happy.
Not sure how long the Rhino will be around, I have about 12 classes left to finish my BBA and I'm about killing myself to have enough cash to pay it (school) off the day I graduate. It'll wipe me out but screw debt.
Soooo, just an update. Still playing with the rhino but rack is gone.

A little debt is not that big a deal IMO. As long as you get to keep doing the stuff you enjoy, its worth paying a few more bucks in the end.

I agree but this is about $24k in debt and I'm on track to have the savings earmarked to pay that off when I finish in about a year.
I'd have a hard time convincing myself it's ok to build a new go fast ride (big, high HP, 4 seater) knowing I had student loans.

True, but IMO, keep the rhino, take a loan for any debt, then you still have something go fast to have fun with until you finish go fast truck.

Then sell rhino to me when you come here for dune weekend one year :D
