So will adding just the locking hubs make it a 2wd truck? Sorry if I'm not following
pics of your blazer? I wish i had one without the 203 lol just couldn't pass it up for the price !
This is it, it's a 10 footer originally black with red plaid interior similar to yours. 350/350/203

Ok, thank you very much for cleaning that up! How long and how challenging is just a hub swap? It's not a hard thing to swap out if you have a strong disliking for it. If you hafta take it down and tear it apart for a part-time conversion, it's probably less work to just throw a functioning 205 in there. Assuming this truck is too old to have the newer 6-bolt transfer case pattern (which would give more options yet).
To answer the first question, you'll only have power to the back wheels when the hubs are unlocked, but you will always be spinning the front drivetrain (driveshaft, gears, axle shafts, etc). It will function like 2WD, but you will burn extra fuel and put extra wear on the gears. Whereas a part-time system will disengage the front drivetrain entirely.
You also will not be able to go anywhere when the front hubs are unlocked unless the 203 is locked. Otherwise, it acts like an open differential and will just spin the front shafts (which aren't hooked up to anything).
So hubs are a step in the right direction, but they only get you half-way there.
It's purely a cruising dirt roads and the occasional mud hole type of vehicle ! Might do the 203 part time swap one day ! Thank you very much for the insight ! This whole full time 4wd thing and driving on pavement is gonna take some getting use to !That 203 is not going to hurt you. Put a set of locking hubs and drive it. You will only be using the rear axle. The front drive shaft and front axles will still be turning but not connected to the front wheels because of the lockouts.
You can always put a part time kit in the 203 if you want, I never did and don't care. You also must engage 4 high every 100 miles or so to properly lube the bearings in the t case.
Gas mileage and wear and tear, whatever, get a Prius.
205 swap will require different length driveshafts also. Then you can swap a 14 bolt and a Dana 60 with 8 lug wheels.
The 205 has its advantages of be able to go in and out of 4x4 from the cab if you keep the hubs locked. 203 can't without a part time kit installed.
Seriously if your just going to drive it don't get caught up in all that IMHO.
If your going to rock crawl well that's different.
Just have fun with it.

Is the only way to view that with a premium membership? That thread looks like exactly what i need to help me do this !!!Very straight forward. You could probably swap both lockouts in 1/2 an hour.
I have pictures of the process in my thread if you want to see what things look like (both the drive flanges that you have and the lockouts that the newer trucks have).

Thanks for the advice !! what model year do i need to get for it to have everything i need???Driveshafts are going to be different lengths so both replaced or resized.
Transfer case with adapter for your transmission and shifter setup.
Basically bolt in deal. Tcase crossmember will be moved fwd. Holes should be in the frame.
Donor truck with all the parts would be the easiest route.
Depends on what parts go for in your area and what's available.

I couldn't find a single specter 3/4 filter !!!Auto zone carries a "Spectre" brand 3/4" diameter push in breather.
Does the squeal change when you change the speed of the heater fan?

I normally go to the Napa in town where they know by name lol, they have a husband and wife who work there who helped me the first time i asked them about the crankcase filter. The older guy who hangs out and works there wasn't there on that day !Any push in breather would work. You need to make friends with the oldest parts guy you can find.
Said i need a premium membership, what does the pic say ?
Got the crankcase filter in yall !!!
quick question for yall... whenever I'm driving it and i take a turn moving at say 5-10 mph it seems like i hear a noise and then it starts pulling to the left noticeably ? after a while it goes away
My guess was something to do with the full time 4wd, steering is a good guess !! I'm not 100% sure i will check when i can ! Any way i can diagnose it as steering ? Like things to look at?Loose steering component? There are a number of things that can cause noises. What type of noise do you get?
