Welcome, good looking truck (LOVE that color)! Check your second pic, it's not showing. Plans for the Blazer? What part of the country are you in?

Thanks! The second pic was a failed attempt at the first pic. I'm in GA. No real plans yet, got a few things to fix first, front brakes, steering box and some rust on the inside. Will probably just be a trail truck.

Good deal. Be sure to watch the regional forum for the Southeast, there are a quite a few members and we've met for rides at parks a few times - hopefully we will do another one this spring.

Welcome aboard @creature
Looks like you've already got a capable rig there, and for further advice you’ve come to the right place.
From our members experience, their direction and advice is surely going to help you enjoy your truck more.
I can only advise to make it as usable as possible to be able to enjoy it frequently.
Keep the downtime to a minimum and enjoy life!

Thanks for the welcome! I'm for sure a noob, so I'll soak up all the knowledge I can!

When you have the steering box off, look for cracks in the frame. Even if there are not any, there will be with those fat tires. Add a frame brace and weld on repair panel now.

this guy knows what he is talking about, he has one of the coolest Jimmys on the site

Welcome. X2 What ktmoutfront says. Off road design makes a nice one in my opinion or fabricate your own.

I saw that while doing some research, I wish I was a skilled welder. I'm buying a welder now and will be learning on this truck. Maybe it won't be to bad of a job for an inexperienced guy.

That plate is super easy to weld because the materials are thick.

Find some metal and practice. Watch the videos on the miller site for info.
