New life for an old GI, 1984 Chevy M1028

Slow progress, but still progress. I pulled the windshield to prep for a new one and found the source of my water leak. Cleaned, treated with Rust Mort, filled with JB weld, and ready for a good used windshield with a DOD parking sticker and new gasket.

After that, I pulled the crappy rear slider and installed a good used solid window with an old NRA sticker.

Today I started a rebuild of the wing windows. I need to grab the rivets for the upper home tomorrow. I didn't realize they were not part of the deal kit when I bought it. Luckily the precision seal dealer is 2 miles away from me and keeps a ton of parts in stock.

Today's progress, picked up the rivets to finish both wing windows, driver's side door reassembled. I even cleaned up the replacement door panel and scrounged up a complete set of correct hardware to hold it on the truck. I probably set the window crank in the wrong position but I can fix it later if need be.

So I see you're on here as well. I responded to your post on FB about the wing windows the other day.

I've been on here longer than FB has been available. It just doesn't offer a good experience for the technical side of the hobby like a forum can. But it works much better for the classified ads.

I definitely like forums over FB for more in depth information.

I'm surprised you're door doesn't have the extra seal along the top. My M1009 did and I always thought that was a military thing.

I thought that was something GM added in later production years (86 or 87). But I'm not really sure. I've never seen that seal on a CUCV when I was in the service or later in life dealing with them that I remember.

My assumption on needing the spacers was wrong, it was the old, broke down seat foam that made the seat feel too low. I removed the spacers and went back to the factory mounting without the spacers and they sit perfect now.

FWIW my CUCV was an 84.

Seems like every other time I need something I can't find it and spend bunches of time searching. And I'm not even that old to blame it on age.
For me, I'm very well organized with the stuff I use the most but still looking for things I haven't used since moving 2 years ago. I still remember where they were at the old house though.
