New life for my '76 K10

I'm getting 33x12.50x15 BFG All Terrains and wanted to know if they're safe to mount on som3 10 or 10.5 inch wheels? I currently have some of the American Racing black steelies that are 15" by 10 or 10.5 wide, that's why I ask.

Will it bulge a lot, if at all? Will the ride height still be the same, would I have to run them at a lower PSI?

Thanks!

ORD Parts

Got most of my stuff from ORD Today.

U-Bolts
4" Shackle Flip
x4 Tuff Country SX8000 Shocks
x4 Tuff Country Black Shock Boots
Greasable Heavy Duty Front Shackles
Greasable Main Eye Kit for front springs
x2 4.5" Rear Super Shackle with Greasable Rear Upper Shackle and Spring Eye Kit
Bolt-In Steering Box Brace
2" Drop Pitman Arm

Just waiting on the front lift springs casue they ship directly from Tuff Country.

Ordered x4 33x12.50x15 BFG All Terrains from 4 Wheel Parts.

Got some new lug nuts too cause my rear wheels just have regular nuts holding them on.

Looks like a good start for sure, I love budget built trucks like this one! Carry on

Ok, I got the old shackle hanger and all of that stuff off. Got the shackle flip bolted on. Now when I took the old springs off one of them basically fell apart (cracked down the middle, just one leaf) so I went to U Pull-n-pay and got some really nice springs, like 7 or 8 leafs and in real good condition. The old springs were 52" long and the new ones are 54" long, will I be alright? or will my shackle angle be all funky?

I got the old bushings out with a drill and torch and I'm going to get the sleeves pressed out at NAPA hopefully within the next few days so I can put this whole greasable setup together.

I will post pics of the current progress, I'm too into my work while I'm doing it to take photos.

Thanks again.

Note: I had to cut literally everything off with an angle grinder... shackle, shackle hanger front spring hanger bolt, shackle bolt etc. It was a weekend of mainly cutting stuff off and barely installing anything.

Damn! I didn't know it was putting up that much of a fight for you. Should of text me and I would have came over and helped.:D

What did you pull the new springs off of?

Man, those things well from hell. I pulled them off a C10 Custom deluxe, in the glove box plate it said the we're heavy duty springs, the leafs are the same thickness as my old ones the just have two or three leafs in them.

A C10 should have had 56" springs. Did you measure the 54 eye to eye or did you run the tape along the arc of the spring and get 54?

I measured from end to end, so the furthest part of the spring to the furthest part. I measured both springs like that.

Well I got the flip already mounted up, red loctite and torqued down and for the 56 " springs I have to flip the brackets backwards, so I guess I'm in for some more fun. Should be a pretty smooth ride once I get it all mounted.

Overdue Update.

Ok, got the shackle flip all done.

It took me about a week and a half becasue one of the leaf springs had a spring that split down the middle as soon as i took it off the truck. So I went and pulled some springs off a C10 and they were 56" springs and I didn't really feel like messing with them.

So I ordered some new stock 52" springs (5 leafs + 1 overload) and then I had to wait a week to press the bushings and sleeve out becasue I was caught up with work. Got that done, installed all my greasable bushing stuff and finished everything up that same night, like 2 or 3 days ago.

So heres the pictures:

Great work! FYI though, if you flip the shackle flip brackets driver to passenger, the 56s will bolt right up. The extra length on 56s is just on the back half.

The truck is a decent amount higher in the rear for now, drives fine with no vibrations (I was worried about pinion angle at first). I torqued everything down to spec and haven't had anything fall off yet.

So now I have to do put the 4" front lift springs on, drop pitman arm and ORD HD Shackle and mount it all up with the greasable bushings and bolts. Don't know when I'm going to get to it, but hopefully soon.

Yea, I was considering doing that, but I already had everything mounted and red loctited and didn't feel like messing with it, I guess I just got kind of lazy and caught up with other things. I'm keeping those 56" springs and will do something with them when I get my next truck. I'm moving to Kentucky/ Tennessee (I'll be right on the border) in a few months and I'm picking up a '81 - '87 Shortbed, Blazer or M1008 CUCV when I get down there, I'd rather get the M1008 cause it already has the 14BFF and Dana 60 and just swap the diesel out and put a racing fuel cell in.
