New Ride! 78 GMC. *The build thread that never was?*

And just what does that have to do with anything?

To make Martin's day again, I seem to have split the nylon washer in the fuel filter housing. So although it runs perfect, it also leaks perfect...

Drove it to work again today. Runs perfect now! Feels so good to finally have the quadrajet on it! Runs just like it should. Although I do need a rear choke pull off. I'll order one with my birthday money tomorrow. Then, even tho its supposed to rain all weekend, I want to get some work done on it! I have a 3 day weekend this weekend so hopefully between the rain and birthday celebration I can get some stuff done. I'm really antsy to finish painting the white and get the wheels swapped around and shocks swapped from the 90 to this and do body mounts.

Happy with the Q so far. This is a video i took this morning. Cold start. Hadnt been running since i got home about 11hrs before this video was taken.

Couldn't play the vid but if it starts easy after a day of sitting your doing good.
Today's fuel tends to evaporate quickly. Takes a little cranking and pumping after sitting for more than a day or so. Mine will start within 24 hours with just the key, after that it needs a little help with the foot.

Swapped the wheels around this morning. Obviously still need to paint the driver side white. And need to "restore" my hub caps.

Looks alright anyway. THe whole goal behinde all this was to have an echenomical and good looking way of getting the aluminum wheels back on the burb while getting rid of those gawd afwful wheels that this thing originaly came with! I hated those wheels/tires with a passion. Ultimatly, i think this thing is going to look beyond awesome with the 2" lift, the 67-72 chrome hub caps, and the BFG's on it.

there will be a day soon when those oem steel wheels will be impossible to get...there may be a couple shops that can make them for you...but who knows how long they will continue.
I see plenty of shops close down and go away forever when the old man dies that started it.

There was a time when those wheels were thought of as "ugly old spares"....I think they look best of all...

The 2" lift is for the 78.maybe for the 90 too but that's a few years away probably. And yea, I used to not like the look of factory wheels. Anymore I think they just look awesome!

I used to always scrap my stock wheels for alloys. Love my stock steelies now.

I think my burb is going to a 2" lift soon too...

Tires are still a little ways out sadly. But im going big! Cost wise anyway... Im going to get 285/75-16 BFG KM2 M/T's.

Even better with M/T's. I still have the original bfg muds except for one km but can't get them anymore.

Nothing big but i did re-seal my headers yesterday. As well as cutting off the collectors and welding adapters straight to the pipes. So no more collector leaks!

One of the old gaskets. I think it was leaking. THe other side was worse...

The new collector adapters.
