Well if I'm honest, my main motivation is fear. I fear that I will get $10k into the 78 to get it finished only to never really drive it because the single cab makes it somewhat impractical. I mean if it's just me and the wife going to the beach for the day, we'll never take the 78 cause there isn't enough room inside for the duffle bag, pillow, and change of clothes. And if we ever have kids, the 78 is as good as dead from a pragmatic standpoint. I know that the obstacles of a single cab can be overcome, but then I think, why bother overcoming those obstacles when I could just eliminate them instead?
The 78 needs everything. It needs a motor, body work, and paint. So I'm not too concerned about the other one needing the same stuff.
Right now I have very few hours and very little money into the 78 so now would be the time to part with it.
Another source of motivation is that right now, the wife daily drives the 12. And she does all our grocery shopping and running around. It's not the most practical thing for her. So I could trade the 12 in on something like a Toyota Carolla and get her into something that works better.
As to having a burb and a truck, I can't get rid of the burb. It's stuck with me forever as somewhat of an heirloom. I dunno. We'll see. I haven't even approached the wife about it. She has talked me into keeping the 78 several times.
