So, what are the preferred options in a tool box like these?

If you could customize the drawer sizes and placement what would you do?

Is the hutch on top as useful as it looks or is it just a junk catcher?

What else would you do? How about a place specifically for extension cords and air lines? Or do the side cabinets take care of that kind of thing fairly well.

Describe the dream box....

if tripple bank like mine got to have the krl1033 like mine. first 2 top drawers are full width . all sockets and wrenches in 1 big drawer . then all big prybars and other long items in second drawer . nothin like fittin a 5ft 6" long prybar in your box and shuting the drawer.

and the drawer slides are all on 2" spacing. so you can swap the order of the drawers around. look at my early pics and latest pics. i swaped the side drawers around for better flow for my needs. real easy to do.

the hutch is nice if you set it up like i did . air tool hanger for most comon everyday items there with out opening the drawer. then comon spray can holder for lubes and stuff.

few diffrent shelf options are avalible for the work center also. thay have one setup for holding repair books and little bar to hold the pages down.

the lockers have adjustable selfs and drawers. the doors have slots to hold more can holders and few other tool holder items.

the tool cart in the locker docker is nice at the end of the day. no messin with your cart or tools left on it. it lockes in the locker.

sweet box yes. but be prepared at the price of snapon and the quality i think is no. 1 hands down . and has the most usable space of any tool box with the least amount of wasted space for drawers and stuff.

heck just the main box no lockers or work center is 1100 lbs or so. built like a tank. the full locker is around 450 lbs .

hop on ther site and look around at all the options i say. thats what i did and picked the stuff i wanted.

any questions just ask me.

I definitely prefer a topbox to a hutch.... great cheaper alternative if you have enough drawer space without a top..... me, wouldn't work.... I bought the top when my bottom was crammed to the hilt.... needed the drawer space....

the lockers are killer imo....... some day I'll get a matching one for the other end...

I have the same triple bank box with the two full width top drawers. I have only sockets in the top drawer. Metric wrenches in the second drawer, and my standard wrenches in the fourth drawer.

nice box man, i havent read through all posts,

Ive been a tech for a while and im ready for a nice box in a few years

looks good with the second locker.....

was the cart locker more or less coin than a standard locker? I have absolutely no use for a cart, just curious.... someday I'll get my second locker...

krl1012 locker = $3080.00 new

krl1018 docker locker = $2260 new

i paid new for docker locker just about year ago.

then found this real clean light used full locker few weeks ago for 900 cash. :thumb:

yeah, I seemed to remember the dockers being a fair amount cheaper.... I remember when I got my locker going :doah: at the price..... and I think it was 2600 at that time.... great space tho, LUV mine.. and $900 is a smoking deal for one...

on all of your wreches...ahhaha

A few us us techs always joked around in the winter saying we are moving to florida and gonna work on boats.....sick of the cold.....and add lil floaties to all of our tools.
HA, yeah, i know your not swimimg in the water all the time but it sounded funny at the time

try being a marine mechanic in the NE... :haha: I'm roughing it these days, new yard has no shop... well, a tractor trailer box... I'm outside all winter... glass work ain't fun when it's 12 degrees... :eek1:

I run multiple rigging bags.. ALWAYS shopping for good SMALL tool bags..... my MAC guy would get the smaller black bags with plier kits in em, and i would buy just the bag for $5..... :pimp:

In 20+ yrs I've lost about a 1/2 dozen tools in the water... mostly screwdrivers... the only one that really hurt was a Snappy 18v cordless battery.. focker's ain't cheap!

it was one of the older batteries... they freaking sucked.. and ranged from $90 to $125.... I had a couple up and sh*t the bed in a couple months.. guess it wasn't snapped in 100%, climbing off the boat, came right out the bottom... plunk...

the tools have always been great, and the new batteries are awesome, and actually a tad bit cheaper.. my impact and drill are so old i had to get the bat adapter to run the new slip-on bats...

wow back from the dead :zombie18:

she is still doing great. never a day goes buy i think i should have never purchased this setup .

well after using my nut/bolt drawer a lot and cleaned it out 1 time over a year ago i decided its time for a BIG change .

after seeing scott's 4x4high post / link to global industries in here http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=304302 i decided time to pip the box a bit more and make it cleaner and function a lot better. so i droped 150 shipped on 48 akro bins and dividers in black for my nut / bolt drawer and also redo my brake tools / parts drawer also .

got around 5-6hr's in the 2 today till i had to stop for dinner and my neck hurting . ( cant do sitting and hunched over as much since surgery few years ago on neck )

but here is the before and afters .
