New to CK5.

That increases the value at least $10 !..:D..

I would think a once over with some wrenches on all the transfer case bolts wouldn't be a bad idea--if the trans shop didn't bother checking the linkage adjustment before allowing the customer to drive off--what else did they forget or neglect to do ?.....the bolts to the transmission tail-housing are the most critical, that often get left loose or come loose on their own,and ruin the threads in the casting..this can let the transfer case droop down or flex and cause wear in expensive areas..

That's a great point, sad but true. I let very few places work on my junk for that reason, haha, not to say I haven't forgotten things.

We have all heard of the quickie lube that forgot to put the oil in--or replace the drain plug....
I've pulled some stupid stunts myself...like starting an engine with the oil filter off..."what's that whooshing noise ?--OH S***!..

My friend had a customer call him last week--he is mechanically inclined, but not too swift--tells my friend "I just got done putting a transmission in my car (older Chevelle, pretty nice one too)--I'm sure I did everything right, but it just wont go in gear,or move the car--like every gear is neutral !--you think I got a junk rebuilt transmission ?..

Friend asks "Well, did you make sure there's enough fluid in it?.."

"Um---fluid ?...you mean they dont come pre-filled with fluid?"..
..
"No, YOU have to buy it and put it in !..it holds about 10 quarts from empty"..
"OH!...I'll call you back!"..

Phone rings about an hour later--and--
"Hey,its moving now!--but is it normal for it to squeal like a pig at idle till it "wears in" ?.

"Nope!"..

"Oh hell--I'm just gonna drive it--maybe it'll go away"..

"Good Luck:!..

Good thing it came with a 90 day warranty..but no compensation for "labor and related parts"..like another 30 bucks worth of ATF!..

Spoke too soon. Hit the highway heading into work. Started feeling the slipping. Then nothing. Once it cooled down it work slip craw. Best gues. Now is the 700r4 is toasted. Got good story to tell later. After the healing is done. And cha-Ching for the rebuild

That's funny

If they didn't adjust the TV cable, that would toast the trans in no time.
That's not so super. I'll end up spending more on the tranny. Than I did on the entire rig. Well worth the invest. Just a bummer. Have to stand by before I can play with the new Dream toy

That sucks, if course, but at least you have a good attitude towards it!

Yeah, it's funny how things work out. Sometimes good deals really are that and other times not so much.
After spending money on the K5 that ultimately I only kept the rear axle and shell, seems project vehicles are the best way to go. I didn't want a project C10 for my 2nd toy, but didn't like what people had to offer. Ended up buying a frame and going from there LOL I had swore I wasn't going to work that hard on another truck, 2.5 years later hahahaha
