New to the forum and to K5's

w0wza!!! after some reading!!! def going to go with the 52" springs and shackle flip!!!

just keep in mind if your going to be seeing a fair amount of street time that long leafs can be a little, unrulely... 52's up front also REQUIRE x-over steering.. great mod for these trucks no matter what leaf setup...

a flip out back is always a great choice unless doing heavy towing... put 56"s in with that flip and you'll get some more flex too.. thats my rear setup, but i'll run standard length front for a little more street friendlyness...

frame braces at the steering box are always a good thing too...

Nice Blazer, it will make a great base to start your build!

NICE K5! Welcome aboard, buy a membership and start reading it will serve you well. here's a few thoughts from someone who has done the 52" swap...

The Musts for the 52 swap are:

Longer Shocks- don't skimp on these if you do any street driving

Longer brake lines- extra long so they don't become your limit straps

X-Over- it's easier if you have a dana 60 but is doable with a 44 with a pre-75 pass side knuckle that will need to be drilled and tapped for a steering arm or get an aftermarket knuckle with provisions for x-over

Relocating spring mounting locations- adding DIY4x's B52 hangers is a great way to achieve this and gain strength and adjustability .

longer drive shaft- to take advantage of all the droop in the springs you need a lot of slip in the drive shaft.

Bump stops and limit straps are also a good idea

You give up a fair amount of street drive-ability for trail flex but with good shocks and some tuning you can achieve decent streetability

You mean (pirate4x4) there's sites (pirate4x4) on the net (pirate4x4) that don't treat you (pirate4x4) good?

Pirate4x4 is also a good place for information, but if you ask the right question in the wrong place you get flamed pretty good. Enjoyed a slug fest of f bombs because of a simple question. Not mine, but I needed a cigarette after that reading. And I quit smoking.

A totally different atmosphere on CK5. Worth every penny. Enjoy !

I go over to pirate for the entertainment factor. Their environment over there is doomed to attract the assholes. It just cracks me up to read the goings on.
But in all fairness there is some good tech over there you just can't ask a question without putting on the flamesuit. Thats said I just read, glean what info i can, and stay here @ CK5, it's just better for everyone.

Besides, what are you really going to do to your rig that you can't find the tech all ready over here?

Oh, and B!ng the Barber, forget those wimpy 52's. Go for the 63's and be done with it!:D

Yea, I'd be takin' the 666 off pretty quickly.....

Also, check out the U-Pull junkyard down south. Quite a few parts down there for our rigs. Sure beats buying a lot of stuff new. Congrats on the new ride!

Pics of the dash, It appears to have a cover on it?

Nice truck. Like has been said before you buy anything search it, if you can't find it ask it.

The are enough folks on here that we have pretty much made all the mistakes for you.

Welcome

Check out KTMoutfront and his coil sprung Jimmy... He catches more air than is right in one of these trucks haha

Don't throw my name around like that. J/K

Welcome to the site and good luck with a mild build. The first thing you did wrong was post up on CK5. Now the money will flow.

As for coils, only lazy people use leaf springs. :D Don't hate me because I can get air.

Caution. Picture whoring ahead.
