New tool Box

Kobalt is made by Snap On... Thats what our Snap On truck guy told me atleast.

Nice box though. :D

I still need to invest in one of those.

Not really... wasted money is wasted money. I guess if you just want to say you have a snap on box then it makes some sense.:dunno:

You obviously don't know what you are talking about. Also, $5,000 wouldn't touch my box. When I first started as a mechanic, I had a Waterloo tool box. They make Craftsmen boxes. It was the biggest and nicest box available from Waterloo at the time. After five years it was falling apart. The spot welds were all cracking, the top drawer dropped down about an inch in the middle when I pulled it all the way out, and I was stuffing tools on top of tools, on top of tools, on top of tools. It just plain wasn't big enough, or of high enough quality.

nice....

the Snappy sidelockers rock... way nicer than the Mac's imo..

That'll be my last piece at some point, a matching side locker for the other end on my KRL...

Guys All I was saying is for ME it's doesn't make sense.... and as I said I'm not a mechanic... In and out of my box quite a bit but not as much as a mechanic would be. Theres guys at my work that have had the same craftsman boxes (not a huge fan of craftsman) for 20 years and others have old snap on boxes. Both seem to have held up just fine. Just a decent ball bearing box is all I need.

Like I said.... no real need for them at MY work so essentially yes... LIKE I'VE SAID IN THE 3 POSTS BELOW THAT QUOTE.

Please don't twist my words.

What are you talking about??? There is no need to twist words, you changed your story half way through the thread.

I bolded your statement for you, in case you needed to read what you wrote again. You pay the extra money for quality and service.

Never got the whole 5K toolbox thing... I can buy 2 300 boxes from lowes and hold the same amount of tools. Basically you pay 4400 for a name.

Wasted money is me buying a generic piece of **** box. Like what you have . . .

Not really... wasted money is wasted money. I guess if you just want to say you have a snap on box then it makes some sense.

Here you go back to it being a statement towards EVERYONE, not just you.

I see where your coming from. I worked with a guy that had a 5k toolbox but really where does the money come into play? I can open my box just as fast as he can but I paid 4k less. I dunno... I just don't see the point of a 5k toolbox. Impacts, power tools, etc I see it, but toolboxes.... I just don't get.

If you've got the money and want one then more power to ya.... I just don't see a practical reason to buy a 5k toolbox.

Not until this post did you qualify it as being for you, and that was only after you had to backtrack after being called out.

I do turn wrenches for a living.... not as much as a mechanic but theres a fair amount of wrenching. All I'm saying here is I can't justify it. I'd much rather have the extra 4k in my pocket or truck. Since I haven't had any probelms (nor have any of the guys at work) with a decent ball bearing box. Seems to open just fine to me. Who knows I might have one 10 years down the road but I'm sure as hell not gonna be the guy with the 5k toolbox who can't afford to put any tools in it. My job doesn't require a TON of tools but still need alot... Honestly if I bought a big box like that and filled it up I'd probably only use half the stuff in it. For me it's really hard to justify an extra 4k because the drawers open smoother.

Just sayin' . . . . .

Ok,

take it as you will.... I will admit that I neglected to post that, in my job its a waste of money but that was the "mentality" I had when I posted it. Didn't mean to rub anyone the wrong way.... I tried to explain my statement and apparently it's going no where so I'll bow out of this one.

I got a craftsman box at home and a Snap-On box at work and its like nite and day when it comes to quality. Of course my luck i got the box free a friend wanted to get rid of it so i took it down to bear metal and gave it a body shop quality paint job and it looks better then new.

I've got a Craftsman griplatch box that has served me well, but there is no doubt that if I have the chance to buy a larger, nicer box it would be a Snap-On. Every time I open one and feel the quality of the slides, drawers and overall build quality I get a lustful tingly feeling... :D

In conclusion:

Snap-On > Craftsman > Nothing At All

Having a well-organized, properly sized box is a great luxury no matter who's name is on the front panel. :deal:

:usaflag:

Personally, I would rather have my drawers full, than worry about the smooth operation of the zipper :haha::eek1: two six foot Craftsman $190. specials here. Need a couple more. Too many tools....

Ya did good!

If you have never seen the Lista product you need to. Everything on the boxes are heavy duty. It is built for industrial and Military use. It is every bit as strong as a Snap-on if not stronger. I will snap some more pictures of the slides and construction of the box. Check out there products.

Ok I,ll throw in my 2 cents. I will take my 20 year old non ball bearing slide snap on box over any craftsman box. after 20 years ( I bought it new) it still is as solid as the day I bought it.
