OK, my next issue to troubleshoot on my 88K5 is why I have no turnsignals or hazards. I kind of touch on this in the middle of troubleshooting my fuel pump issues but though it would be better to start its own thread. Symptoms are: turn signals do not light/ flash nor when the hazards lights are activated. The green arrows dont even come on. My headlights/tail lights/brake lights/courtsey lights all work fine. I checked/metered all the fuses and none are blown also verified all are the correct rating. Would a bad flasher cause the signals to not even light up? I was thinking bad directional switch/stalk on the column but if that was the case I would think the hazards would atleast work? Ideas...:dunno:

It's in the fuse panel. You can get them at any auto parts store. They are only a few bucks. Even if that turns out not to be the issue, at least you will know THAT portion of the circuit is good.

Just to clarify...your saying there is a seperate relay for the flasher or the flasher itself? All I saw was the flasher (metal "can") under there..

There are two "metal cans" or flasher relays. One for hazards and one for turn signals. Chances of both being bad are pretty slim, in my opinion.

Pull one of the flasher relays, turn on that circuit and see if you are getting power to the fuse panel with test light or multimeter.

They sometimes fall out of the fusebox too, when your boot finds them !..some flashers have a plastic case, usually the 4 way flashers---you can swap them around too--if the 4 ways work and you swap that flasher into the directional flasher spot, they should blink if it was a faulty flasher..

Humm.. I only see one flasher (round can) on the fuse block and only one spot for one. Also I put the key in the "on" position and checked for voltage at the fuse block on the 15A fuse marked for turn/back-up and have no voltage with the signal activated or not. This is the same for the hazards aswell. Again, indicators dont illuminate at all. Sounds like a broken/bad wire somewhere before the fuse block. Could this still be a bad column switch somehow? Wasnt exactly sure on the power flow if it goes through the column before or after the block.

Yes, Thanks. Looks like Im going to have to pull the fuse box and inspect the rear connections. Still have no power at the fuse (either side) when the blinkers are activated so my problem is at or before the box.

Nope, no power at the flasher when key in the "on" position and column switch activated. Also My reverse lights don't work (I may have posted they did but confirmed today they are out also). I can access the wires and can trace from in the engine bay but what color (pink?). No power at the 15A turn signal b/u fuse. Just wanted to see if I have power there before tearing into the fuse box. My column switch/stalk will likely need to be changed also due to feeling very worn and now brights are stuck on always (cant dim) after checking lights. Would the column switch/stalk stop or break power from going to the fuse or does the fuse feed the stalk?

Little update in my troubleshooting today. Started to pull the fuse block to check wiring then I found another flasher up under the dash separate from the fuse block and also next to it was a spot for a "buzzer" (which was missing btw). Swapped that flasher to the one on the fuse block and now it clicks and I have turn signals but still no reverse lights and hazards. Does one control the hazards separate from the turnsignals or do both have to be installed and good for both to work off of eachother? Im really more concerned right now with not having reverse lights (bulbs are good) more than anything over the hazards. Also still wondering about the high beams being on all the time..

Check your backup light witch. as to the hazards, they are part of the brake light circuit, are your brake lights working?

Exjay: where did you find the hazard flasher? I can't find it on my 85K5 to save my life

On my 88 there is one on the bottom right of the fuse block and a seperate one i believe just on top of the steering column (or in that close area)behind the dash. Its really hard to see and get at but its there. The pic in your diagram is the older model block so not sure the diffrence between the 85 and 88 layout.
