Speaking of all things mullet, drop top 5.0 GT at work yesterday.

Back in 1990 I was working part-time at an auto parts store and one day me and a co-worker ( a few years older than me and he was rock’n da’ mullet !! ) went to lunch in his 1988 LX 5.0 conv Mustang ( 5-spd. and 3.08 L/S ).
After talk’n about cars of days gone by he said that his car could break the tires loose at 40mph - well, I called absolute BULLSH!T on that.
We were just coming to an off-ramp cloverleaf doin about 40 and he jammed the shifter in 2nd and side-stepped the clutch and put it on damn near fuel cutoff in the rev department - we went through that cloverleaf with the ass end hang’n out and the front wheels cut doin a Tokyo-Drift before I even knew there was such a thing.
It was AWESOME !!

Even though that version of “bust’n em loose at 40” was not what I was thinking of I gave him credit and everyone went to see the black marks after work that day and a small legend was born.
Those cars may not have been super fast but they were fun to drive!

I thought cash for clunkers killed all of these. They were giving out more for a clunker than these were new almost lol.

I had a dude give me one in 96. Needed a clutch and he didn't want to mess with it.
I looked around for a while and couldn't even find a clutch. So I gave it back to him lol.

69 Mustang, they didnt get any better than that!
And that boat tail Riv is awesome!
well cept for those wheels.

After seeing this Italian Race Horse inspired car I never realized just how small these things are - ain’t no way my fatass is gonna fit in that thing !

The Hummer reminded me of when they were common on transports - I lost a lot of interest in those things once I figured out that they use upside down AMC Model 20 diffs. Just a shame…
