Norcal_Chris 95 Jeep build (Snowball) TH350 gurus

With the short wheelbase of a Jeep, a TH350 would be better, not?

Martin

I'm at 109in. Wheelbase so not really that short anymore. I wouldn't mind a th350. You guys think it would be up to the task? I guess a mild rebuild and good cooler would help the most

1st gear sucks in a th400 and it sucks some power to spin the bigger converter. at least that is what I noticed when I switched from a 350 to 400

A TH400 is heavier, longer, higher geared, and burns more parasitic horsepower. Plus every TH400 I have ever had drove funny compared to a TH350.

There isn't much left of the original Jeep body or frame either, is there?

Anyone care to shed some auto trans knowledge?

Im picking up a running working th350.

should I get a manual valve body? Will that give me compression braking in 1st?
What stall converter? I was looking at 2k
Do I run it for now or rebuild it?
I see i can get rebuild kits for a few hundred bucks. How involved of a job is doing it yourself?

Exactly! I wish things happened that fast on my truck lol.

Was the roll cage bolt in?

Also what did you do with the chevy after? Im curious to do a similar swap.

The cage was sorta bolt in. At a b and c pillar. But then when I did the rear coilovers I welded in the 4 tubes for support so I had to hack those out.

I posted the tahoe on Craigslist and sold it within an hour @600 bucks

Awesome... I wondered if having the chevy carcass around was going to be an issue to get rid of. Somebody wanted bad!

Im debating on doing tbi. Unsure of the health of my motor, which i can check but im starting to debate if my couple hundred bucks is better spent on a 5.3 swap...
