New trans install and no TC movement/Output. However new trans is 700r4, while old trans was th350. Linkage has not yet been lengthened and connected. SO, I'm trying to determine if my TC is stuck (I can't move it) in neutral OR the new trans is DOA.
Thoughts ?

So you can't turn the rear output when it's in park? As in, can't move the truck?

No, sorry. The linkage on the tc is stuck. The fwd and rear facing yokes do no turn with trans in gear, fwd or rev.
So i can't tell if tc is the issue, or new trans.

The yokes don't turn when you start the engine and try a gear in with the transmission, correct?
This would tell me that the transfer case is in neutral.

Or, you can't turn the yokes by hand with the engine off?
This would indicate something locked up.

The 203 shifter assemblies are notoriously problematic, you might disconnect the linkage from the tcase and see if the levers on the tcase are difficult to move by hand. If the problem is in the shifter assembly I think you can rebuild it or you can find twin stick conversions to replace it.

ORD's twin stick is/was backordered with no ship date available. I couldn't find another company making them. Most are going doubler or dumping the 203 completely.

Your best bet is to remove your stock shifter and clean it really well.

Unfortunately parts for 203s are drying up, even the 203 doubler craze has dried up. I have a 32 spline 203 and I can’t give the thing away. As was said the shifters are notorious for getting dirty/rusty…I’d let it soak with some hood penetrant and keep trying to work it.

I had a 203 on the side of my house for 3 years and just sold it. I basically gave it away to be honest. Good riddance.

When they work they work but heavy, low range sucks and can’t get any parts for them

I took a couple NP203's apart for the range boxes. I want to build a doubler. I did keep a shifter. Figure out what your NP203 issues really are. Did it all shift right before the trans swap? It would be weird for the shifter to just quit working. Will it shift rolling the truck a little? Just stuck maybe? If its really the shifter I would trade mine away.

Is hood penetrant a 9mm?

I just installed it i need a steel plate on my shop wall, with a nice curve to contour my forehead.
I got the levers off and the shafts are still tough to turn. Might be time for a rebuild...

9mm or .50 cal...
I just retubed the shafts at $700, otherwise I'd prob swap it for a newer lighter version. But I'll clean it up, oil the shaft from the fork change the oil, and see how it feels after several hundred miles...
Thanks for the heads up
