So when I get a new torque converter I put it in the transmission first and then when the transmission is bolted to the engine I I still have room underneath the put the bolts in and tighten them?

lol, ok for us cheap guys, we turn it, if you really need a tool to turn an old motor fine lol its ur money.
yes. I think ur supposed to fill the tc with fluid first as well...
Do you guys install these back in as one unit or do you do the transmission first and then the transfer case?
Should I expect the transmission man to clean the outside? It has half an inch of crud on it...
Id say if you got the lift and can do it like that, do it all at once so you dont have to install the transfer case seperate. I bet that 203 weighs more than that whole tranny. And you would have to man handle it, unless you got help id do it all at once.
that tool can be had for around 20 bucks and saves tons of time and skin.
and yes pre fill 1qt or so of oil in the new convtor and set up on tranny and make sure its engaged in the 3 sets of theeth. or damage WILL hapen to pump.
you clean it all up like new outside he will love you better and also cost less prob. and good way to start off the job all clean.
if me now all clean install tranny then tcase as you will be able to find and get bolts to t-case.

Problem is it's on my other truck and I don't much feel like moving it...every joint in my body is killing me...I would pay extra to have him clean it at this point...

Pretty sure u would have had much less problems had you taken the torque converter bolts off first...

Unless you really reefed on it, I bet its fine man, just make sure its got a little fluid in it (unless ur gettin a new one i cant recall) and put it on the tranny first on install. World of differance, because ur bellhouse was most likely hitting on it and causing you to have to get all kinds of weird angles on the tranny to get it out.
Make sure to check ur flexplate for any signs of cracks while everything is off.

Yes...I am going to definately put a new one on...I don't know how old that one is...it may be the original...maybe not...but since I don't know I think it's best to go ahead and install a new one.

Yeah...but I am dreading the reinstall even more....this part was hard but it was like downhill...going back on is going to be uphilll....
Nah man dont overthink it, now you know the torque converter thing is last, that will make a world of difference over before, and you got a lift, with me its 2 of us layin under man handling the SOB, just take your time, relax and all will work out. When you start worrying about stuff it always makes the job feel much more tedious. Just think "im just slappin in a new tranny, no big deal

I was more concerned that maybe I could have bent the spline shaft that comes out of the transmission or maybe even the flexplate...
Flex plates are not that expensive, i would just put a new one on for peice of mind anyway, and unless it was really gettin torqued on (and idk if those shafts are hardened, but i would imagine they are) you shouldnt have messed up the shaft.
