For a while now I've had a squeaking noise in 4wd. It's not always there, but it usually is. The noise hasn't always been there, maybe just the past year of the 4 years it's been in the truck.
I was able to narrow it down to the front output. My NP205 is twin stick'd. If the front output shifter is pushed hard into the engaged position, the noise goes away. It will come back when the drivetrain gets any slack. As long as it's under load, the squeaking stays away.
The only thing I didn't test was if the noise happens in both low and high. Only checked it in low. My gut says it doesn't happen in high, but I'm just going off a feeling.
So there's something going on with shifting the front output. It's there something I need to adjust?
I have cable shifters and adjustable detents. Could it be that I need to tighten up the front shift rail detent?
