Should have said my intent is purely for towing.

ramses said:Well this got a little technical lol. So what years and types of trucks can these transmissions be found in? Would it be possible to put one in my 73 K20? It has a 350,sm465, and Np205. The only reason it interests me much is the higher gear that I would love to have for the interstate.

sandawgk5 said:There is. You bolt a ranger gear splitter in front of the 465 gear box. They have 2 different ratios I think. The lower ratio gives you about .78:1 overdrive while in 4th. Do a google search for Ranger Gear splitter and there website will come up I dont know the cost but I do know somebody on here has one on a K3500 in the for sale forum.

DEMON44 said:I lost the 5th gear nut on my NV4500 3 days ago, behind my CTD.
It is NOT a catastrophic failure, in fact it doesn't do anything except the loss of use of 5th. The nut backs off, the gear slpis off the splines and just freewheels on the shaft.
My '98 Dodge is in this current state. I'm deciding on which way I want to fix it.............and no the CTD is not stock.
