OFFICIAL* Dante's Peak Suburban Build *

Is a snorkel still going on this? Seemed such an integral part of the truck's role in the movie...

What size Mickey's did you put on? I looked in the thread, but I didn't see a size mentioned. The truck looks amazing by the way. Great job!

I had spoken to the gentleman who was graphics supervisor for Dante's Peak (Banned From The Ranch Entertainment) about the computer imagining of the volcano monitoring in the movie. Specifically the screens you see in the conference room where the USGS has set up. These images were done 17 years ago.

A lot has changed since then in the industry. Mr. Van Ling is known for his work on Titanic, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Starship Troopers and many more. He has even worked on the AMC hit series The Walking Dead.

Van Ling was kind enough to take his time and rebuild the files in to a 30-second Quicktime movie of a few of our BFTR (Banned From The Ranch) Volcano/Monitoring graphics from “Dante’s Peak” for our use. It’s a 1024x768, 24fps loop able animation that should look nice playing on a laptop.

For more information please visit his web site. http://www.vanlingpro.com/bio.html

I am trying to upload the video to Facebook.

Getting ready to take a saw to the RH fender! Been looking and figuring the snorkel. Hope I get it right...............

I will be leaving Wednesday for Wallace, Idaho. It will be me solo and taking my time to get there.

Measure many times before you commit! Misplacing that hole will be hard to cover up. Good luck :thumb:

OK I made a card board back plate of the snorkel. Then I messed around with it to get the right placement. I think I about have it figured out and Sunday after church will take the leap.

Little things keep popping up; found out the lighter doesn't work. So that gets on work list for Sunday. Need to drill holes for the front lights. One just need to be bigger and the one in the top loops need to be completely drilled. Also looking at trying to do the seat switch if I can rework the tracks. If not sheets over the front seats.

Laptop won't see wireless so no internet from Wallace. Tried the PCMCIA and a USB on windows XP it is something in the protocols.

OK time for dinner have to eat....

Not before we go. To many little things that still need finished. I have the stuff to connect it all but not enough time. I still need to get the lap top in, fix the lighter and clean up of interior.

Won't have the center custom work done to the combo kit. The one detractor in the build. I have until Wednesday after noon to be on the road.
