Official Golden Spike trail run for BB14

True, but then I went back in and helped get the rest of the group out.

I didn't know that! I followed hoser back into town to make sure he actually took his wife into the hospital. I kind of worried that he might not...

Yea, her health was definitely not his top priority.

I may come on this run too. Not sure yet really. Kristle really like this run.

Trying to figure out logistics...

Dump off the buggy at poison spider early am, drive the tow rig up 191 to the out, and hitch a ride back to PS?:dunno:

If you want to do this Fred I'm sure Amber and I can figure out how to get you to the trailhead. It may mean a trip in the bed of the S-10, but we'll get you there.

Fred, I have in the past left the tow rig just off 191 in a pull out on the Colorado river road.

Then just drive down the highway from the end to the tow rig. I usually do this since I don't mind driving the 4 miles on the Colorado river road to the start of the trail then IF time allows at the end a quick shuttle down the hill would allow no driving on the highway.

Perfect, thanks Brent. My tires are way too expensive to be burning on the street, the slickrock is hard enough on them.

I will do a more detailed report but I think the trail went pretty good.

Of course in my head it was supposed to go better than it did but we had two trucks with ignition module failures and a third added (not truely part of the Golden Spike Group) vehicle with a Fuel pump issue.

Even with me leaving the group, back tracking into town, buying three ignition modules and two coils, then driving back to them on the trail we had everyone fixed and off the trail by 7:21 Saturday night. We started at 8:40 from the trail head so that makes a 10:41 pavement to pavement run. I started the trail the second time at about 2:15 and made sure that I was the last one off the trail.

A huge thanks to Brent for being the tail gunner then leader after I left and getting the first part of the group out and into FWP's hands to get to pavement. Brent then came back to assist with the last of the guys I had coming out.

While not a perfect day on the trail we did have issues, overcame them and kept as many moving as possible. I think the concept is good for this trail now, a group of ten is honestly about all that I think can do this trail during BB and be successful at being done be sundown. There were several vehicles that have run the Golden Spike trails a few times and they had never seen the Golden Stairs and double Whammy in the daylight. They got to this year.
