Oh the raptor just keeps making me happier and happier.....

Chris at ORD told me my springs would use "all of a 14" shock". I redid my mounts for 14's up front. In the rear I have 11's now, but they are bottoming out too soon. I'll probably go to 12's and live with it.

Have you checked to see what happens when the axle goes free up front? I assume the shocks are the limiter unless the driveshaft hits something first. I'm still figuring it all out, but pretty sure I'll need straps if I don't want to damage my shocks over time.

i dont think the comment about using all of a 14" shock is for static travel (the whole axle moving up or down). I think they are referring to flexing. Which can use more of a shock etc.

But I dont care much about flexing for what I do. Even though it still flexes plenty well. And my brake lines are limiting me here, not the shocks.

This^ Adam that's all that's limiting travel, but you know now you mentioned it these shocks are a good deal. I hadn't thought about them and the fact that they're that cheap considering performance gains.. Nice!
Oh and a custom set of rears should be more like 16-18 inches vertical travel.
Either way make a bell crank and keep the shocks.

Im going stock length custom springs front and rear. All bolt in stuff. I dont feel like redoing driveshafts again.

I think the ord 52s are good for 14" or maybe a little more. I think I heard 7" uptravel from SBD. So somewhere in that area.

I think you are right, but it still makes sense to ensure nothing bad happens if the weight comes off your axles. I tested both front and rear, and ugly things happened in both cases. The only good things I can think of are (a) the springs stop drooping all by themselves, or (b) you have limit straps. I don't want my brake lines or shocks or driveshaft to be the limiter.

Nice flex pic. Does the tire hit the sheet metal on the other side? I think the worst one for me is with a rear tire on the ramp, the front opposite side stuffed into the metal just a little.

..

Nothing ever hit in that shot, nor have i had any rubbing with this setup. But I am only running 33x12.50 tires. Yes, I dont want the brake lines to be the limiter either, but im never going to flex it out like that in the dunes. It does not stretch them out that far on static droop.

Maybe I will just buy a wrecked out raptor and slowly turn blazer into chevy raptor???

They wont be hard to find. Lots of Ford guys hammering those thing well beyond their limits. K5 looks bad ass with those shocks too. :waytogo:
