would it be better to use thicker oil if the engine has worn piston rings when it had 50 it did'nt smoke i put 30 in it now it smokes what do you guys think

I'm not sure where you live or if yo have fuel injection or not. Be careful if it's cold and you use the thicker oil you could be doing more damage then just letting it smoke a little. Especially if yo have a fuel injected engine.

if you run the thicker oil in the cold wether you will do more wear on startup, but if your rings are worn that probably means your bearings are worn too so youll be looking at a rebuild soon, so if you dont want the hassle of adding oil often run the thicker stuff, if you want to squeeze a few extra miles out of the motor run the thinner stuff.
